Sandstorm is the story of one young American. Jeff has no idea he's been caught in the first strike of a local war that will, over the years, threaten to screw up the whole world. During his traumatic week, he's just trying to stay alive.

How many of us can say that we know much of anything about what it was really like in Kuwait when Iraq invaded? Sandstorm is a look at this moment in history through the eyes of a typical American teenager, refreshingly naive, who ends up separated from his family when the troops reach Kuwait City. This book is much more than an exciting adventure story, though it is certainly that. It is also an inside look at the innocent people caught up in the event that changed history for the US and the Middle East. I think every young person, and frankly adults as well, should read this tale of survival and personal growth set against a vitally important backdrop. Was this review helpful?
