As a physician, I've always found this to be a must-have ever since I was a medical student. This is the perfect guide to have in your white coat pocket, as antibiotics and sensitivies are always changing. I think I've gone through over ten of these! I haven't searched for an online alternative, since the Sanford Guide is so easy to page through quickly.
The other MUST, MUST have for med students, residents, and physicians is Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia. These two handbooks have saved me hours of time, and I still use both of them nearly every day in practice.
Two other books come to mind for people in medicine. Samuel Shem's "The House of God" is an old-time classic and must read for anyone thinking of becoming a doctor. I've read this book a few times. Whenever anyone mentions doctor must-reads, this is the first one to enter into the discussion.
The newest addition and must have (in my humble opinion) is Dr. Anthony Youn's "In Stitches". This is a new memoir from a surgeon about his four years in medical school. I laughed and cried my way through this one, remembering all the crazy times I had in my medical training. As you can see, I highly recommend this one.
