After a particularly long, cold night staring at nine smelly reindeer butts, the old man lets loose with the real answers to those stupid, whiny, hard-to-read letters from kids. Turns out, we really do get what we deserve.

Dear Billy,
I know you honestly believe that the good deeds you rattled off represent your behavior for the entire past year rather than the activities that occurred during the two hours leading up to the writing of this letter. Two hours of good behavior hardly justifies a new Playstation, let alone a trip to Disney World!!
Your pal,
Santa

    Hilarious!

Great book for adults. This book sits on the coffee table for guests to read around Christmas time. The book is a great conversational piece and always gets people reading their favorite letters to Santa out loud. Definitely good for a laugh.

    Fun book, sarcastic and clever!

Santa responds to letters he receives and says some things we wish we could say...fun!

    Good but not great

I had expected it to be funnier. But it did still provide many laughs

    Funny, Funny, Funny!

This book caught my eye last minute when I was leaving the store, I picked it up and started reading. To my surprise this book is hilarious. I recommend it for anyone with a good sense of humor and like a good laugh.

    Hilarious!!!

As other reviews stated, this book is not for the easily offended. However, if you want a very entertaining and quick holiday read (that is anything but politically correct), this is a winner. I've finished 1/3 or the book and want so badly to finish the rest but I'm making myself wait until I need a good laugh after being stressed with the upcoming holiday chaos.

The book is a great gift for anyone with a cynical sense of humor. I'll be buying quite a few to give out this Christmas.

Hysterical and Entertaining...Not for the Politically Correct or those Easily Offended

Santa Responds is a highly entertaining book that I recommend for anyone looking for a good laugh. I bought this book for my husband, who is not much of a reader, and he loved the book and actually finished it. After listening to him laughing so hard that he had tears in his eyes I decided to read the book myself. I have to say that I was also laughing hysterically and have recommended it to friends as a gift idea. I will be giving this book out next Christmas.

One note: This book is NOT FOR CHILDREN and does have some language that could offend people.

Not for the Easily Offended . . or the Politically Correct - but GREAT for Laughs!

(I gave it 5 stars because it kept everyone at a family dinner laughing the whole time!)

Perfect for : Personal reading, great host/hostess gift (for the right person!)

In a nutshell: I don't know if my family has laughed this much in quite a while - at least not because of a book! We had relatives over for dinner this evening, and I decided to pull this book out to see what they thought. What I thought would be a quick five minute browse through the book ended up lasting over an hour as we passed the book back and forth, reading the children's letters and how Santa responded to them out loud. I've never had a better time during dinner! This is the perfect gift for someone with a great sense of humor, or someone who needs one! It would also be great after a long day of work, or holiday shopping - just grab a cocktail and start reading - your day will instantly get better! As I learned this evening, this book is also a perfect ice breaker for a gathering - just make sure there are no kids who still believe in Santa, because just like the picture on the cover - this Santa isn't your normal "ho, ho, ho" jolly old Saint Nick, but rather a blunt pot-bellied, tattooed, cigar-smoking, drinking, cursing (not too bad) Santa who is finally telling kids exactly what he thinks!

Extended Review:
You've simply got to get this book this holiday season! If for some reason it offends you - I apologize, but I don't expect it to offend anyone. My parents were here when we read it out loud, and if anyone would have been offended, it would have been my Mom, who took everything in stride and laughed as much as the rest of us! While you are at it, pick up a copy for someone else who deserves a good laugh!

Characters: Santa is hilarious! He's pulling out all the stops and telling kids what the reality of the situation is!

Story-Line: This book is full of letters written by children to Santa, and his responses. Please note that it is NOT a book I would read to a child who still believes in Santa, or any child at all, as it is certainly filled with adult humor.

Readability: I found the book easy to read. One note here is that the kid's letters are in different fonts, and some really look like kids handwriting, which can get a bit tricky in some situations (think of the suggested cocktail above).

Overall: A holiday MUST HAVE this year, especially with the economic fears - everyone needs to laugh about something!

    more from this reviewer

    A funny Christmas read.

The book realy did make me laugh out loud in parts. Some of the responses are too funny, especially the one liners. My favorite features a 3 page letter from Paige and Santa's response is "Dear Paige, When did you turn into such a little bit**? Your Friend, Santa"

The one thing that keeps me from rating the book higher than 3 stars is the fact that after the first few letters, Santa's responses start to become too similiar. I would have liked a little more variety but otherwise I do recommend picking this one up. And just in case you were unsure, this is not a children's book.

    I Also Recommend:

Hilarious and entertaining, but not for the faint of heart

Great book. I haven't been all the way through yet but as I only send e-mails to Santa as a kid that were already laid out, I thought it was quite hilarious. It does have language in it. It is not for children. Again, in bigger letters: NOT FOR CHILDREN!!!! However, an older teenager or young adult would be likely to find this book a great laugh

    Inappropriate language

Skimming through this book, there is a lot of very funny stuff.
However, upon further inspection. There is very inappropriate language
in it, not suitable for elementary children or even junior high. I can't see
that older children would be interested. It's so disappointing because it
could have been a totally amusing book for students in upper elementary
school. I returned the book. I was purchasing it for my grandson. I can't
put the offensive words in this review. I'll clean it up and use synonyms - emasculated homosexual.
