Santa's Secret's: The Story That Can; Never Be Read

( 2 )

Overview

I don't mean in any way to debunk or defame the story of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. But just for a moment, imagine the possibility, that maybe it was a little different than we've been told. In this story you will find magic, truths, brotherly love, and the answer to the question that children of all ages have asked since the myth began. How do reindeer fly?

Meet the Author

An interstate truck driver spends a lot of time driving from here to there and back again. He/she has many long hours with nothing to do but gaze out the windshield and watch the world go by. Some drivers, not all, would occupy their time by listening to the conventional AM/FM radio or their audio tape machines (CD players had not yet been invented). Some, not all, would spend time talking on the citizen band radio, aka CB. I was one of those drivers.

Every year, starting around Thanksgiving and lasting a few days after New Year’s Day, I would tell a joke that involved the number of reindeer that Santa Clause had. Often time’s listeners would ask me questions about the joke and I would expound on it. As the years and miles went by, the joke grew and grew, eventfully becoming somewhat of a story.

During the Christmas holidays if I was not driving, I would spend time at my siblings’ homes visiting and sharing the holiday spirits. They knew of my imagination and had heard the story many times. And they would ask me to tell it to the all the younger nieces and nephews as the older ones decorated the tree.

I grew older every year and the miles got longer and harder on my physical self. So I quit driving over the road and started driving a transit bus.

During the Christmas holidays I would tell the story to my passengers who were somewhat of a captive audience. No one ever complained and often as the season would arrive each year they would ask me to tell it again.

The years finally caught up to me. All the nieces and nephews grew up, married and now have lives of their own. I retired from driving and my story telling days slowed to a stop.

Then I met Patte!
