One should look at this book as on-line trouble shooting guide. Simple and easy understandable language. Nice presentation. The step-by-step instructions will help even a non-techie to understand and take basic corrective actions. Will go a long way in creating value for all BW consultants. Full marks to the authors for making the subject simple.
Excellent Reading!!! I must say that the language used by the authors is simple to read and understand which makes the reading more interesting. This is one book which would come very handy to all BW consultants for constant reference while working on any BW project since there are quite a few ¿Tips and Tricks¿ which would enrich any BW consultants¿ knowledge and role. Chapters on ¿Design of Info Providers¿ and ¿Query Designing¿ will go a long way in creating value for all BW consultants. Kudos to the authors for writing on a complicated subject in such a simple manner.
I am working in BW area for quite a long time and I have handled number of projects on this. Performance is one of the major issues which we need to consider as data volume grows day by day in any BW system. This is what this book explains very nicely and in very easy manner. Few things like how to handle very long running extraction, whether we have a scope to improve this or not. I like the way SQL Execution is shown. This really helps any BW consultant to improve extraction performance. While doing initial loading we normally face challange as data volume is big. Small things like Number Range buffer which can boost loading performance are explained step by step from how to find our Number Range Object to How to Buffer it. Modeling designing techniques are also explained in simple way. Some of the real life examples are given for how to use technical content in a better way. At least I found this book really helpful. I found the book extremely useful for appreciating the smallest to the biggest changes one can make in the SAP-BW system to improve the performance tuning. The authors have detauled some of the basic concepts like Type of Index (BitMap & B-tree) in a very easy language. I would recommend this book to everyone connected to SAP-BW implementation or maintenance.
Both the Authors were my Guru [Trainer] at the SAP academy. They have excellent knowledge on this subject. The book is very easy to read with lots of Tips and Tricks. I recommand this book for all the people associated with BW.
