Overview

Her idea of paradise is a country farmhouse with lots of kids and a dog. All he wants is his ranch, his horses—and to be left alone.

When the Denver bank Bailey Chancellor works for transfers her to the small mountain town of Ferguson, Colorado, she eagerly accepts. Now she can have a country home, and maybe the children she's always wanted.

The townspeople view Bailey as tough because of her banking policies, but neighbor Trent Murdock sees a softer side, and he can't help responding. Up to a point, that is. Trent lost his little girl, Sarah, a year before Bailey moved to town. Then his marriage fell apart. The last thing he wants is to feel vulnerable again.

How does a city girl with a country heart get a stubborn cowboy to love her?

Brenda Mott weaves a well-crafted tale of a grieving father trying to overcome his fear of loving and losing again. Trent Murdock lost his little girl and his marriage, and stuggles with opening himself up to that kind of hurt again. But there's something about the spunky city-girl-turned-small-town-banker who moves in next door. Can Bailey help Trent live and love again? Because she wants it all - the big farmhouse with the picket fence AND children to share it. Falling for a guy like Trent who has no interest in any more children could be the biggest mistake she's ever made. On the other hand, it could just be the right thing for both of them. The author's writing style is smooth, and easy-to-read. The story reaches deep and pulls at the heartstrings. Though this is Ms. Mott's first book, I predict (and sincerly hope!) it won't be her last.

I read this book in one day. I could not put it down. I would recommend you to read it if you are into cowboys and happy endings.

Hello! I am pleased to announce that my first Harlequin Superromance, 'Sarah's Legacy' has received the honor of being chosen a 'Top Pick' for the month of January by Romantic Times Magazine. I hope you will enjoy reading Trent and Bailey's story of how they find love with one another when both are afraid of trusting for reasons of their own. I certainly enjoyed writing it! I give five stars, not to myself, but to the Superromance line in general, where authors are allowed to tell the 'Book of their heart.' This story is just that.
