Bruce Cairncross is a professor and chairman at the University of Johannesburg's Department of Geology. He is an expert on southern Africa's minerals, gemstones and geological heritage. In addition to many scientific publications, he has published five books on the region's geology. He is also an acclaimed photographer of rocks and minerals.
