It's only dedicated followers of Louis Armstrong who've realized that Satchmo doesn't have a digital-era, career-spanning box set, nothing quite like Satchmo: Ambassador of Jazz. This one does it, both in a four-disc set and a massive ten-disc incarnation that presents excellent material from all periods of his life, from early landmarks like "West End Blues" to Decca-era big-band pop "A Kiss to Build a Dream On", right alongside late-period bucolia such as "We Have All the Time in the World" and "Hello, Dolly."
