All Music Guide - Jason Birchmeier
During an era when most heavy metal bands wallowed in their own misery, singing about pain and sadness, P.O.D. offered a more optimistic alternative. The band had been releasing music since the late '90s, but it was this album rather than its commercially overlooked predecessor, The Fundamental Elements of Southtown 1998, that reached out to countless listeners. Quite simply, you can't deny the emotion P.O.D. funnels into its songs. The sentiment feels genuine, as if this band truly cares about its listeners, one of the key reasons why this album shook the metal world in 2002. And, as most listeners will no doubt agree, it did so for the better. The metal world needed ...

The metal world needed an album like Satellite in 2002, just like it needed a band like P.O.D. to challenge longtime metal heavyweights like Tool and Korn for supremacy. The spiritual, emotional band writes songs about promise and hope -- songs that inspire you to celebrate life, not despise it. It's not just the singing of vocalist Sonny either, though his soaring voice has much to do with it. Rather, it's the band as a whole that gives the songs on Satellite so much affective power. These four guys obviously love making music together, and that passion comes across in every song. Guitarist Marco, bassist Traa, and drummer Wuv fuse a variety of influences -- metal, hip-hop, dub, Rage Against the Machine -- and create music that stands on its own, apart from the many other nu-metal bands of the time. In particular, "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation" stand out as rallying calls for metal fans looking for music about living, not dying.

P.O.D. comes out with an awesome CD that will be remembered forever. These Christian hard rockers come out with the best rock 'n roll album of our time. P.O.D. rocks hard and rocks for Jesus! God bless.

    An Awesome CD

This is an awesome CD, despite having a few bad songs on it. I could do with less rapping, but I still love this CD!

    Satellite

i think p.o.d. needs to a "Best of P.O.D." cd, because out of all their cds, there are many songs that you skip every time. But, the songs that you don't skip are really awesome, so this is a cool band, but i dont think its worth it to buy one of their cds, even though "satellite", "alive", "boom", "set it off", "youth of the nation" and "portrait" are all awesome songs.

    I LOVE THIS STUFF

If I could give it one hundred thousand stars, I definitely would. If this CD cost three times as much as it did, I would still buy it.

    P.O.D does it again!!!!!!

WOW! I just finished listening to the Satellite CD, and I'm impressed! P.O.D. is sooo awesome. The have such a powerful message, and the can ROCK! Keep up the great work! I give them credit for standing in the gap between the secular music industry and the Christian music industry. Keep the CD's and great music coming, We love you guys!!!!

    Not so fast!

While I though ''Southtown'' was a classic, ''Satellite'' is a bit of a disappointment. There are some excellent songs (Alive, Messenjah, Portrait), but Ghetto is one of the worst songs I have ever heard. Youth of the Nation had the potential to be a great song, but its a bit too poppy and cheesy to be effective. Overall, the cd is fun to listen to, but it doesnt have the impact of Southtown.

    High Energy, Burst of Strength

An awesome album. Songs such as Alive and Satellite are full of energy that overwhelms the senses. Powerful songs that send a message, with awesome beats, and catchy lyrics. A hit album!

    Their best album!

This is definately their best album so far. I've been a big fan for years, way before they got so popular. I love how they haven't compromised their faith because of how famous they are. This album has incredible lyrics and a catchy rythms. It's so uplifting unlike a lot of other music like it.

    Awesome CD

P.O.D. is already an awesome group. This CD just shows how good they are. I gave them a five star rating because the CD could only be improved by adding more songs. This CD should be bought by everyone who has ever heard of P.O.D. They are a Christian band who has listeners even on KROQ. They are the greatest band ever and deserve to become legendary.

    Jason Birchmeier is an idiot

I don't care if this gets posted or not, but I want you to tell Jason Birchmeier to take his Peter, Paul, & Mary CD's and stay away from trashing one of the best CD's of the YEAR! Hello?! music is supposed to have a catchy tune. He can take his ''I'm a middle-class male who doesn't know a single thing about human emotion or feeling'' Attitude, along with his collection of John Tesh, Kenny G.,and Enya and move to a place where people are as narrow minded and critical as he is! Someplace like Antiarctica! Fire him before he takes all your business away!! Oh Yeah, the CD was AWESOME! Anyone who knows anything should buy it!

    P.O.D. rocks

Once again p.o.d. has further spread the gospel to those listening to same style by different bands without the trash talk.

    Good. POSITIVE!!

I'm really glad P.O.D. is such a positive band and it's amazing how they attract the young listeners from all walks of life and throw out a positive message. The industry needs more bands like P.O.D. and Creed delivering positive and moralistic messages through music.

    This was Great

Personally, once I got this CD I loved it, however I didnt want to get it at first when I read the review for it cause they made it sound like it was a horrible CD, but I borrowed it from a friend and loved it. It really was a great CD.
