I once knew this girl who thought she was God. She didn't give sight to the blind or raise the dead. She didn't even teach anything, not really, and she never told me anything I probably didn't already know.

On the other hand, she didn't expect to be worshipped, nor did she ask for money. Given her high opinion of herself, some might call that a miracle

Overview

I once knew this girl who thought she was God. She didn't give sight to the blind or raise the dead. She didn't even teach anything, not really, and she never told me anything I probably didn't already know.

On the other hand, she didn't expect to be worshipped, nor did she ask for money. Given her high opinion of herself, some might call that a miracle.

I don't know, maybe she was God. Her name was Sati and she had blonde hair and blue eyes.

For all who meet her, Sati will change everything. Sati may change everything for you.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

“The ancient hope for redemption is recast in this sprightly contemporary parable, the first adult novel from a bestselling author of young adult fiction” —Publishers Weekly

“[A] carefully and sparingly written fantasy…Sati could be a valuable addition to a growing library of multicultural literature for high school students. Although its characters are not from minorities, it will make a fine introduction to non-Christian religious beliefs, for Sati's philosophy and persona is based on a mixture of Buddhist, Hindu, and other spiritual thought.” —School Library Journal

What if God were one of us? It has happened before. If you read the bible, then you know. And no, I am not talking about Jesus. Anywho, I really liked this book. I adored Sati. She was a bit strange but she did what she came to do. I admit that some things that she did where not all god like. There were some parts that had me raising my eyebrows. I really enjoyed the plot though. Sati came into other peoples life's and completely changed them. They has no idea what she did to them until she was gone. The characters were all unique. The each had their own problems and had Sati helped them. Some lost their life's while others gained a new perspective. Overall, this book is good, fast read but nothing that I read again. There was some cursing.

In the Arizona desert, blonde, blue-eyed Sati hitches a ride. Sati is very choosy with who she picks up as she sits by the side of Highway 10 West. Thus she selects long haul trucker Michael Winters, who has major personal issues. She informs the skeptical Michael that she is God. Though he questions her sanity, Michael is unsure why but he takes the beautiful female to his Los Angeles apartment. He scornfully demands miracles, but she ignores him as she does not give sight to the blind, etc. Instead, others who meet her begin to change in her presence including his estranged family. She hosts meetings in which refreshments are served. However, when the self proclaimed deity is murdered, all who were in her circle of light realize what she did for them is bring a new hope. This is a reprint of a delightful 1980s parable. Michael the cynic tells the tale of Sati who brings a deliverance and atonement to those who meet her. Readers of all ages will feel the light of redemption by all in Sati's presence whether she was God or an enlightened person. Michael and others know she made a difference. Harriet Klausner

Christopher Pike's venture in writing for an adult audience didn't seem to commercially do well, but those who have missed his work are at a loss. This book will challange you to look inward at yourself, you views, your faith, and it satisfies with great characters, a wonderful and uplifting tale, and will leave your mind tingling with thoughts . . . Then, go back for more. His work is great.

Christopher Pike is 'king' with out the publicity! He is just as good if not better than all your popular authors. This book is one of his best adult novels. Once you pick it up, you'll be up all night just to see how it ends. It was so good that I read it twice! Give it

I really enjoy Christopher pike books but I found this one really boring. There didn't seem to be a story line - normally Pikes storylines are amazing but this was a real disapointment.
