Don't believe in that "stuff"? Either did Adam Winter until fate intervenes in his rut of a life (stuck in a career he hates; waking up with all the wrong women) in the form of an email from his first love, Zoë, anxious to rekindle their teenage romance. Even though he hasn't seen her in 15 years, he knows this is the one. Adam's life starts to fall apart when he discovers that Zoë may not have sent the email. To make matters worse, Adam's life really begins unraveling on the same day he learns that Zoe will not be returning to his life.or so he thinks. That night, an 80 year old organ player at a 50's style lounge changes his life forever.
Like Adam, Jen Savin's life, while professionally brilliant, is personally a disaster. Jen's consumed by her career in academia, has never experienced real love and wonders whether she'll end up being the weird old lady with a yard full of cats.
Adam and Jen embark on similar yet separate journeys of self-discovery. Whether or not their paths cross or are meant to cross is left to fate.
Is life just a series of random moments that somehow seem connected or do certain people come into our lives and things happen to us for a reason?

pick my daughter up from camp, talk to 2 friends to try to explain why I was so enamored with this story and check my email. I read the book cover to cover (including the author's notes, dedication page and note that noted characters were not based on real people except for one person (who now I am curious beyond curious to know who she is).....despite my having to work in the morning. I didn't want the book to end, but couldn't read fast enough to get it all in. I have to say I cried several times thinking of my grandmother (gone for almost 12 years) and my 7 year old nephew (who has been gone a year this month) and think and hope they are looking out for me somehow. I am writing so that the author knows that one more person was touched by his characters and his story. Hoping another book is in the works by Mark Levine...

I started 'Saturn Return' at 11:00 pm last night, & finished at 4:30 am this morning. There are few books that peak my interest enough to be worthy of an 'all-nighter' (especially when one has to be at the office less than four hours later). The concept of 'Saturn Return' is not only intriguing, but also very insightful (especially to a woman such as me who just turned 29). I highly recommend that you make this novel your next read.
