Overview

Hunter is a Seneca brave and a renown scout for the Virginia Militia. But a white-woman's betrayal sent him back to his Seneca ways, with a vow to never return.

Alanna Barclay lost her family in an Indian raid. When her cousin gives birth to a half-breed baby, then dies, Alanna faces a choice: turn her back on the motherless child or convince his Seneca father to claim the babe as his own.

Hunter wants nothing to do with the infant; a painful remainder of his white-mother's betrayal. But Alanna's compassion and bravery is seeping into Hunter's heart, forcing him to face a love he'd rather deny.

I really liked this book. I love historical romances and the details were great. Ironically, our family just visited Williamsburg a couple of weeks ago so it was very timely! The story was very engrossing and the characters were vivid. The only reasons I did not give it 5 stars were 1. Melissa's character hung around too long even after Hunter and Alanna were together. I would have liked Hunter to miss Alanna more before she came to New York. and 2. the HEA ending was reduced to a page or two. After all the time invested in these two and the wonderful details of their problems and sacrifices earlier in the book, I felt cheated at the end because it felt rushed. But I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Great historical romance of an interracial love between WF/NA, Alanna and Hunter.   This story kept and held my attention from the beginning of Hunter meeting the rest of Barcley family, the war, along with the pejudice of some people. It also told the story of how, two people who love each other decided to deal with and handle the pejudice of others. 400+pgsof. An excellent happy ending. *vrnb*

I couldn't put this book down. This story had so many turns you didn't want to put it down just so you can learn what happened next. Excellent story. I can't wait to start reading the rest of the series.

This was an interesting read. Started off so dry, mostly consisted of a history background so I guess for history buffs this book will read like a wet dream, for me not so much. I skimmed through about the first 200 pages because quite frankly I was bored. The book got interesting once Alanna and Hunter's interaction and romance began, from there it flowed pretty well. Melissa was a spoiled brat who enjoyed playing with people's emotions, her parents were just racist and ignorant, as were most of the characters in the book, but that was all part of the story. Alanna started off annoying but grew into a strong, courageous, young lady. I enjoyed her character the most. Hunter...well he was as alpha as they come. Overall it was a good read, not just my cup of tea. SR

An ok book. Nothing to write home about. Graphic sex was a negative - geuss sex sells books when the writing is lacking. Turns me off.

There were times the main male character was just a dick! I also thought the war scenes could gave used some additional editing. Too long. All and all the story felt very scattered.

This was one of the first romance novels that I have seen that is over 300 pages. I was intrigued. This story did not disappoint. The characters were well-enough developed that I could read this yarn easily. There is not too much smut for those of you who are as interested in the plotline as I am. However, I beleive that the middle was a stumbling block. She becomes way too attached to her savage, to the point of losing her mind (really?). What she faces as the social pariah was drawn out to accomodate the battles that bring the story to its rightful conclusion.

This book was very well-written.  It's obvious that Phoebe did a lot of research on the time period, and it's a true testament to her talent that she was still able to incorporate her fictional characters into America's history. The plot took several turns that just weren't my cup of tea. Again, everything about the book seemed appropriate for the time period, including the "not so sunshine & roses" parts of the story.  I would absolutely read another book by Phoebe.  While Savage Destiny didn't quite turn out the way I thought, I still could not put it down until I knew how it ended!

This is my first book by Ms. Conn. The book is more than 800 pages. The book tells a different story than usual and is quite realistic. I loved the the two leading characters. They went through a lot. I did not like that christian was in the picture. I would have liked it better without him, but i do understand the author motives. I would have liked more story in the end. The romance is not explicit but will not disappoint.

This was just ok. Got very dry and boring in some parts and struggled to get thru.
