Overview

Classic Savannah desserts have been modified and modernized in this gift cookbook and enhanced by appetiteinducing color photography. The city's original settlers preferred to start their desserts with custard, and today there is no shortage of requests for crme brle, crme caramel, and the most popular, the Savannah trifle. This cookbook showcases the sweets, restaurants, and fresh, local ingredients that make Savannah scrumptious. Whether it's Soho South Caf's Berry Shortcake or The Lady and Sons' Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes, there is something for everyone to indulge in. History, musings, and stories accompany the many award-winning recipes, making this first-class cookbook a restaurant guide as well.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

The latest cookbooks in this series present recipes for delectable desserts from two favorite Southern cities, Charleston, SC, and Savannah. As in the earlier titles, the recipes all come from restaurant chefs, and descriptions of the restaurants are included alongside. Shay, a children's book packager, briefly introduces the culinary traditions of each city, and there are color photographs of the desserts, the restaurants, and alluring city scenes. For area libraries and other collections on Southern cooking.
