Overview

"With a dose of Southern charm and a bad boy you won't want to forget, A Cutthroat Business has enough wit and sexual chemistry to rival Janet Evanovich!" - New York Times bestselling author Tasha Alexander

"VERDICT: The hilarious dialog and the tension between Savannah and Rafe will delight fans of chick-lit mysteries and romantic suspense." - Jo Ann Vicarel, Library Journal

Savannah has always been a good girl, doing what was expected and fully expecting life to fall into place in its turn. But when her perfect husband turns out to be a lying, cheating slimeball - and bad in bed to boot - Savannah kicks the jerk to the curb and embarks on life on her own terms. With a new apartment, a new career, and a brand new outlook on life, she's all set to take the world by storm.

If only the world would stop throwing her curveballs...

A CUTTHROAT BUSINESS - book #1
Everyone has warned Savannah that real estate is a cutthroat business, but she doesn't think she's supposed to take the warning literally... until she finds herself standing over the butchered body of a competitor, face to face with the man her mother always warned her about.

HOT PROPERTY - book #2
When Savannah’s friend Lila Vaughn turns up dead, tied to her bed and strangled, Savannah's old school mate Rafe Collier becomes a suspect. It's up to Savannah to figure out what really happened before Detective Grimaldi can arrest the wrong man.

CONTRACT PENDING - book #3
Savannah has to make the choice between staying safe by accepting Todd Satterfield’s proposal, or taking a chance on losing her life - and her heart - by trying to help Rafe, when the term ‘contract pending’ takes on a whole new meaning.

"Equal parts charming and sexy, with a side of suspense. Hero and heroine, Savannah Martin and Rafe Collier, are a pairing of perfection."
-----Paige Crutcher, examiner.com

"Hooks you in the first page and doesn't let go until the last! There's something for every reader: tricky plot twists, rich description, and some villainous characters you'll love to hate.
-----Lynda Coker, Between the Pages

"A lighthearted Southern romp with plenty of steam beneath the surface ... prose is crisp, and protagonist Savannah Martin is a flawed but likeable heroine.
-----Jaden Terrell, author of RACING THE DEVIL

I really enjoyed these books, the characters and the mysteries. Fun, relatively clean who-dun-its that leave you wanting more.

I really enjoyed all three of these books and can't wait to read #4. The characters are wonderful and quirky and you can practically feel how hot Rafe is! Great mysteries.

It isn't til the third book until i liked this series a little. Makes no sense that someone she believes is involved in serious crimes would cover for him

I wanted to like this series. The mysteries are solid, the character development is good, and the pacing is good, too. Technically, the books aren't cliffhangers, but it's obvious there are some unresolved plot points that will continue in later books. The main reason I find myself not wanting to buy any later books is the main female lead, Savannah, gets tiresome quickly. She is wishy-washy. One minute she's sensible and confident, and the next minute she's a wimpy doormat. No one is 100% confident and strong 24/7; well, no one who isn't delusional. But this character swings radically between strong and doormat. It's annoying.

One book - three stories - great because it is a free item. Each story is good but two were much better than one of the three. I would suggest it is a little step above Nancy Drew but not too many.

Among a wonderfully written, witty murder mystery -not quite a cozy- these books are a fascinating social commentary on what it's like to be raised and living in the Southern U.S. If you've read and enjoyed Nancy Martin, Margaret Maron or Carolyn Haines, among others, you're sure to enjoy these. I did.
