Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
From the illustration on the title page, readers will be reminded that buying and selling is something everyone does everyday. Whether you are trading money for a bicycle, baseball cards, or just a ticket to the big game, you are participating in the business of money changing hands. This delightful early reader series will introduce children to the world of money. Set in a comic book format but still with more text than pictures, this title will capture the elementary reader. Even readers with very little interest in the subject will enjoy looking through this book and will, in the process, pick up bits of information about money. The cartoonlike graphics introduce everything from home shopping networks to high end retail shops. The origins of shopping are discussed with a frame on Charles Dickens. Adults and children alike will enjoy browsing through the titles in this "My Money" series. There is an extensive index and glossary, although the glossary words are not indicated within the text, as in many nonfiction titles for this age group. "Learning more" pages include web sites and books. This is one of the best series for elementary children dealing with money. This is a recommended title and series for elementary as well as middle school collections. 2006, Compass Point Books, Ages 6 to 10.
