    Basic tips- nothing special here.

Save Your Marriage is Five Minutes a Day offers 5 minute strategies in 4 different areas to keep a marriage healthy and growing. The areas range from- Keeping the Sparks Alive, Domestic Bliss, Communication and Marital Hiccups. The overwhelming concept Jacobson is trying to stress is that it does not take much to breathe new life into your marriage. Basic care, kindness and consideration is what most of the 'tips' consist of. Everyone can find one thing or another they could improve on and this book is good for pointing out those often overlooked areas. I did however, have some questions about some of the stories used as examples. They seemed to go against the point she was trying to get across (In one example early in the book, it almost applauds a woman who had an affair, because it taught her what she needed to know in order to be pleased by her husband!) This is definitely not within the teaching of focusing solely on your spouse and pleasing them before yourself! While this book did have some valid pointers and encouragement for getting your marriage back on track, it is at a basic level. Most readers will probably looking for something deeper if their marriage truly is in need of 'saving'. This is something I would recommend borrowing from a library as opposed to buying- not for the permanent book shelf, but worth looking over once or twice.

Review of Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes a Day by Bonnie Jacobson

In Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes a Day, Bonnie Jacobson provides readers with easy, quick ways to improve their relationship with their spouse. By incorporating these small gestures into each day, one can make a great difference in their marriage. Whether it is better methods of communication or more meaningful interaction throughout the day, this can be accomplished in five minutes per day. Jacboson gives psychologically sound advice for those spouses who are struggling or who simply want to maintain a good stability within their relationship. By following her advice, anyone can find ways to improve their own lives even as they improve their marriage.

Bonnie Jacobson does provide readers with simple ways to improve their relationship with their spouse. For those people who have been in a marriage for some time, her book can be a good reminder of how to regain that closeness that may have slipped away over the course of many years. In addition, her methods of dealing with conflict are psychologically sound, if perhaps difficult to implement. Perhaps the greatest asset of this book is that these are quick methods of creating greater intimacy that anyone-even the most busy, harried person-can accomplish in a day. For those seeking help for a truly troubled marriage, Jacobson's book may provide ways to begin communication and get past some conflict, but only a greater commitment to the marriage will help to restore trust. This is not the focus of her book, though. Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes a Day is instead about quick methods of improving a relationship that can be used by anyone. By following Jacobson's advice, one can create a more positive atmosphere in their home.

    more from this reviewer

Highly recommend for a happier home

This book is meant to be a guide book that helps you find quick and easy ways to improve and maintain a great marriage. Tackling many of the key 'hot topics' that can occur in a relationship, everything from money, intimacy, children, chores, they are all covered in this book. Another great aspects of this book are: quick to read and digest chapters, couples stories, and a bullet list at the end of each chapter of ideas to try.

This is a great book to read to really inject some excitement and improvement into your relationship. One of my favorite parts about this book is the "say this" sections which help to get at the heart of many issues without making it personal and equipping you with words to find resolution.

The best thing that can be said about this book is that it is SO practical. I loved the bullet list at the end of each chapter and have taken time to attempt to apply bits and pieces into my relationship, and to tell the truth, my wife is very glad that I have been reading this book! We had a great relationship before I started reading this book, and it has gotten better as I have gone through it.

Give it at try and see your relationship improve.
