I have wanted to read about Ian for forever and it did not disappoint!! I love the story between Fiona and Ian told in the flashbacks and seeing him with his siblings. I'm looking forward to reading about Javier. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I don’t know what it is about this author’s shifters and demons but I just cannot get enough of them. They are your typical possessive, growling, super sexy sort of supernaturals however the way they are depicted and the voice the author gives them makes all the difference. Ian and Fiona are both dragon shifters who had to part ways a while ago because her family didn’t approve of their relationship. Cut 50 years later and they get to reunite only to have their time together shortened by evil forces beyond their control. Like I said, Ian and Fiona are pretty much typical in the sense of that they are alpha by nature but when it came down to do what was right for everyone they were both wiling to relent power for the greater good. That’s another thing I liked about the story; the author was able to tell a believable story where there already was one true leader in the series however she managed to include other alpha characters without stripping power away from the Alpha of the whole pack. Another favorite part of mine was that we spent more time with old characters and we finally got to meet the “sperm donor” of the half-demon siblings, which by the way are kind of my favorite characters of the whole pack. All in all I thought it was a great story and I cannot wait to see who the next couple in the series will be. 4 stars. *** I received this book from the author at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***

I did not want to put this one down. I wanted to keep reading. I enjoyed the story. I like returning to series that are great. And this one is one of my favorites. I cannot wait to read more. Ian McCabe, half demon and half dragon shifter, lost the one he loved long ago. Now that he has a second chance can he prove that he is worth her love? Will she give him the chance? He is strong enough to protect her and he will do what ever it takes to win her again. Fiona O'Riley pushed him out of her life. Protecting him. But seeing him again brings back the memories. She must stay strong. * ** *** **** ***** **** *** ** * Possible spoilers.... A few of my favorite lines. * ** *** **** ***** **** *** ** * "He thought of her every dam day. The woman lived inside him." "The connection she felt to him defied logic or sanity." "So long ago her heart had ripped into pieces when she lost him and it had never mended." "She couldn't walk away from him again. Her heart couldn't take it and she didn't think his could either. When she'd left him, it had been like cutting off a limb, leaving part of herself behind. And she had, essentially. Because Ian was part of her, embedded in her skin, her soul." "It just seemed that the ones in power were out of their minds with the need to control everything." "Fifty-two years he'd been missing her, wanting her, needing her. All the pain of living without her faded away, as if it had been a mere blink in time."

Saved by Darkness. (Darkness Series – Book 6) by Katie Reus. This is an excellent paranormal series. It has anything a paranormal romantic suspense reader could want – shifters, vampires, demons, demi-gods – you name it you can probably read about it in this world. I would recommend reading the other books in this series first – you will get a better understanding of the characters, secondary characters and their interactions. Ian McCabe – half dragon/half demon has loved Fiona O’Reilly for decades. He is determined to win her back and to discover the reason she rejected him so many years ago. Fiona, willing to sacrifice her love to keep Ian safe does what she has to do. However, as an enemy emerges and Ian and Fiona work together to save humans from destruction will this be their new beginning or the beginning of the end for them? Ms. Reus does a great job with the characters in this book. I could revisit the Darkness World that she has created over and over. I look forward to more books in this series.

The Darkness series by Katie Reus has been one hell of a ride! We got to see shifters, vampires, demons and even dragons. Ian, a half-dragon/ half- demon shifter almost lost his mate once and this time around will do anything to make sure she stays where she belongs, by his side. Fiona was betrayed by those she loved the most but now Ian is back in her life and Fiona still craves the connection they had. Fiona’s family has done a lot of damage between them but the more time they spend together the more they realize that not everything has been a lie. Just when they start to be happy again, a new threat arises. Saved by the darkness was really good. The story is told by multiple POVs, which means that we get to see more aspects of the story rather than two. We get to hear from Finn, whom I L-O-V-E and Ophelia who I didn’t realize how amazing she was until now!!! I really loved that we got two couples instead of one in the book. Fiona and Ian’s story was incredible but reading about the rest of the characters was just as awesome. I can’t wait to see what’s next! *ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*

Ian McCabe is a powerful half-demon, half-dragon. He has endured pain and rejection and shouldered on. He loved Fiona O'Riley with every fiber of his being and then she left. After all these years, he still loves her and mourns her loss. Suddenly he sees her again and their attraction is reignited. Can the overcome the past and be together forever? Fiona and Ian are compelling characters. These dragon shifters caught my interest and pulled me into their story. I loved their power and their passion. They are fierce and protective. When both humans and supernaturals are threatened, these two along with Finn and his Stavros pack go to the Hell realm to fight an unknown enemy. Will they be successful? The odds aren't in their favor as the suspense and danger increase. I couldn't put the book down until I got answers. Hell is dark and deadly and added to my feeling of dread. This is a worthy addition to the Darkness Series. I enjoyed catching up with familiar characters from previous books. Katie Reus is an excellent author. I enjoy her stories and can't wait to see what happens next.

As always Ms. Reus pulls you into the story and the characters are brought to life. I laughed, I cheered, and I cried. Dragons, wolves, demons, and vampires. You can never go wrong reading one of Katie's books. Ian is half demon half dragon. He lived in the Hell realm with a brother until another brother found them and brought them to Earth. Ian realizes the woman he was to mate with, lives right near him.. She was supposed to have been mated to another dragon according to her family. Now this was fifty some years ago since he saw her last. If she's single, then he plans to mate her and make her his. Fiona has loved Ian for fifty some years. She helps abused shifters relocate. When she goes to a local bar, she sees Ian and can't believe it. Her feelings are just as strong as they were years ago. When her establishment is attacked, she is shot with a poison dart. They go to the Hell realm to rescue her friend and find out why humans are disappearing. They are shocked by who's behind it and she's told she only has a few days to live. Will Ian lose her after all these years or will he follow her into the afterlife? *The reason it took so long for me to read was because I got sick* *I voluntarily reviewed this from netgalley *

It’s been awhile since I have ventured into the paranormal world, and while I don’t do it often, I only do it with a select few authors. Katie Reus is one of those authors. In her newest release, Saved by Darkness we are pulled into a paranormal world filled with dragon shifters, demons and so much more. We also enter a hell realm. Creepy! The world building is amazing and the characters are even better. The main characters in the story are Ian and Fiona and they are lost lovers. They first met over 50 years ago and are pulled apart by her family. Present day they are back together to stand up against an enormous obstacle pulling in several others willing to fight along side them. In addition to fighting for their lives, their love grows stronger and just when we think they will be together, something comes in between them yet again. Ugh! Reus does an amazing job with Saved by Darkness. She writes an imaginative story with characters that are endearing to the reader. I enjoy the relationship part of stories sometimes more than overall plot itself and this one has it everywhere from family to lovers to friends and packmates. The action scenes are great but the emotionally charged scenes get my heart racing just as much. Oh and the love scenes are so sweet and sensual yet intense. Saved by Darkness is a fantastically written paranormal romance full of magic, romance, action and adventure. If you are looking for a break from reality, pick this one up!

Book 6 in the Darkness series gives us Ian (half-demon, half-dragon shifter) and Fiona's (dragon shifter) story of second-chance love. A chance meeting 50 years ago made Ian's dragon stand up as it recognized Fiona as its mate. Happy and ready to begin a life together, Fiona prepares to leave her family with Ian. Unfortunately, Fiona's family has other ideas and they don't include a mixed-species male. Tricked into believing Fiona had mated another (as dragons mate for life), Ian walks away with heavy heart and doesn't look back. Now, years later, Ian learns Fiona is in the same town and living close to the Stavros pack territory operating a safe haven for women of domestic abuse. Even after all the years, Fiona still holds Ian's heart. Determined to see her, even if she doesn't see him, Ian follows Fiona to a meeting only to witness her being attacked and her colleague kidnapped. Learning that her colleague has been taken to a Hell dimension, Ian, Fiona, Finn and Stavros pack members go there to find and bring her back. While there they discover a much more sinister plot is happening involving kidnapping humans and the mixing & selling of demon blood. Battling demons, moving trees, and unseen dark forces, the group comes face-to-face with family, both estranged and new. And discover what it takes and means to be a "family." Ms. Reus takes us on a suspense-filled ride loaded with twists, turns, and unknowns, while still giving us the sweetest second-chance romance HEA! The Darkness series is one of my favorites, filled with dragons, wolves, vamps, demons, non-stop adventures, and love. Highly recommended read and series! *ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book; this is the sixth book in the Darkness series written by Katie Reus. Half-demon, half-dragon shifter Ian McCabe is hellbent on getting back the only woman he’s ever loved. When Fiona O’Riley kicked him out of her life decades ago, he thought she was gone for good. Now that she’s back, nothing will stop him from claiming her. But she wants nothing to do with him or his family. Fiona knows that Ian is the only male for her. The only way to keep him alive is to stay away from him. But when tragedy strikes and they discover a wicked agenda for the mass murder of humans, they must work together to take down the enemies that threaten everyone. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

4.5 stars!!!! I voluntarily requested an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have read every book thus far in this series which goes to show how much I enjoy it. This book was no different and I enjoyed it as much, if not more than the previous books. I love a good paranormal shifter read so this book was perfect for me. I was happy to read about and see the characters that were in previous books in this one. Ian has wanted Fiona since the moment he’s laid eyes on her but with everything that going on; will time be on their side? Even if you haven’t read the previous books in this series, you can still read this one and not feel lost. I highly recommend this book and the previous books in this series. I can’t wait for my next read from this author.

4.5 stars--SAVED BY DARKNESS is the sixth installment in Katie Reus’s contemporary, adult DARKNESS paranormal, fantasy series. This is half-demon, half dragon shifter Ian McCabe, and dragon shifter Fiona O’Riley’s story line. SAVED BY DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person perspectives including Ian and Fiona using present day and the past, SAVED BY DARKNESS is a second chance story line for Ian and Fiona. Fifty two years earlier Ian knew that Fiona was the one-his mate- and the woman that called to his heart. But Fiona’s sudden rejection and subsequent mating to another dragon caught our hero off guard never completely understanding what happened or why. Fast forward to present day New Orleans where Fiona is now the director of a shelter for abused and battered supernatural women. The shelter sits on the periphery of the Stavros Estate, run by the shifter Alpha Finn Stavros, and Finn wants an introduction to the woman who has helped rescue a number of abused shifter females. Enter Ian McCabe, half-demon/half-dragon shifter whose history with Fiona is heartbreaking and sad. Ian wants a second chance with the woman he has never stopped loving but the disappearance of Fiona’s co-worker Ava has the supernatural beings working together to uncover the threats against one of their own. The Hell-realm calls, and half-demon Ian knows his true nature will be revealed when Fiona’s life hangs in the balance and time is in limited supply. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Fiona and Ian, and the couple’s struggle to find the source of a magical poison that is killing the human population en masse. The relationship between Fiona and Ian is one of second chances. Fifty two years earlier Fiona walked away in order to protect the only man she would ever love. Present day finds her love for Ian has never waivered but the threats against his life still linger in the present. Ian McCabe’s life was destroyed the day Fiona disappeared, and he has never stopped loving the woman that called to his heart. Finding his half-siblings allowed Ian to become part of the family but he will never truly be a part of the pack. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. We are reintroduced to Ian’s half-brothers: club-owner Bo Broussard and his mate Nyx (Hunted by Darkness), Rory and his mate Liberty (Into the Darkness), and half-sister Cynara-all half-demons with a father in common; as well as a large number of the Stavros pack including the alpha wolf Finn, his vampire mate Lyra (Darkness Awakened), and their daughter Vega; and supernatural healer Ophelia, and wolf shifter Gray –who may or may not have found his mate in Ophelia. The Hell realm reveals a troubling trend when another one of Ian’s half-siblings is caught up in the drama. The requisite evil has many faces that are familiar to our story line couple. SAVED BY DARKNESS is a complex and detailed story line focusing on family, betrayal, power and control. The premise is unique and intense; the characters are animated, spirited and energetic; the romance is passionate and intense. Katie Reus’s addicting world of the supernatural brings together dragons, and shifters, and demons-oh my !

Review: Ms. Reus is one of my go-to Authors, I know I can count on a good read from her no matter what the genre. This series keeps getting better and better. The world keeps expanding too, to include an ever growing diverse cast of characters and supernatural beings. This book like the others in the series, feature strong heroes and heroines who are immensely likable and fun to read. I have to say I was waiting for Ian's story, after the last book. I knew that Ian was one of those, still waters run deep and that his back story was going to be very interesting and it was. I found Ian's and Fiona's love story to be very emotional, but they had adventure, excitement, and of course the sexy on their way to their HEA. I enjoyed reading about their trip into the Hell realm and finding yet another sibling. I really enjoyed the additional sexiness of Ophelia and Gray so.... hopefully we will see another story/match coming with more Ophelia and Gray. One last thing, I would like to see Ian get to know who is Mother's people were for some closure for him. So, if you like supernatural beings and some sexy, I would recommend this book and series for an entertaining read. 4.5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Author.*

Ian!! Saved by Darkness is Dragon/Demon Ian's story. It's sort of a twist on Romeo and Juliet and Snow White. Ian and Fiona were lovers over 50 years ago, but her family drove them apart. There's danger, action, and a roller-coaster emotional ending. For readers who have kept up with the series, there's a plot twist that is satisfyingly gory and great all at the same time. There is also a secondary story line, as in all of these books, between the Healer Ophelia and another Shifter. This brought some lighter moments during the more daring parts of the main plot. Overall... a great book as usual from Katie Reus. ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series. Each book is great. I love dragons and this book has them in spades. You can read this as a stand-alone but having the concept of the series just adds an extra touch. This is Ian’s story and it is good. There is a twist in the story that I didn’t see coming so soon but great anyway. If you like shifters, alpha, and strong women, this is the series for you.

I found this to be a great read, with an interesting story line, some mystery, suspense and true love. The characters are strong and determined with unique connections and interactions throughout. Ian and Fiona fight to right a wrong and would die for one another! Loved this book! I voluntarily read and review this book, all opinions expressed are my own.

There is so much Alpha goodness in this book! Our main couple is Ian who is half dragon, half demon and Fiona who is full blooded dragon. Then we get so many other players in this series with more half demons and wolf shifters. All of them working together to rescue a vampire and to stop the plans of dragons trying to kill of the human race. I enjoyed the uniqueness of all these dominant males working together in the Hell realm to rescue one of their own and stop the plans of mad dragons. The imagery of the realm and the battle scenes would make a great movie. I learned about so many couples in this book that I want to read about and can't wait to see where the author will continue to take this series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Light Wins over #Darkness Everytime This is the 6th book in Katie Reus’ Darkness series and this is shifter Ian McCabe’s story about him and his lost love Fiona. We are familiar with Ian because he is Bo’s half brother and he has been seen in a few books. Basically, when Ian first met Fiona, there was this spark between them immediately. Something that would never happen with anyone else so Ian wanted to get to know her and spend time with her. Fiona was instantly attracted to Ian and felt a connection with him that she's never felt with anyone else as well. Only problem is her family, including her brothers made it clear if she went near Ian, they would harm him greatly. The two began to meet in secret and during their short time together they realized they had found their soulmate. But all good things come to an end and their love affair came to an end the day Fiona’s family stepped in and put a stop to their relationship and to save Ian, Fiona had to do something horrible to save his life which broke his heart and ripped her heart out in the process. Decades later the two meet again. Their love is still there –as strong and as deep as ever. Fiona and a good friend of hers run a home for abused women/ paranormals. How they found their way back to each other is this home is in a secluded and remote area surrounded by forest. Ian is visiting his half-brother and in the story, they are checking up on a woman who is on ends of their territory. Ian goes to meet this woman and its there he finds this woman is his ex, Fiona. That’s when we see he will do everything he can to get his woman back. This is a second chance romance which also has is also a PNR and what a romance it is. There is angst, intense emotional conflict, pain , anger, yet also love , passion, deep abiding emotional connection and joy. There is so much emotions running rampant in this story… which at times you can get whiplash—yet it all fits. There is so much to be worked out between the MC in this story. I enjoyed the pace in this book. Its action packed, with some mystery/suspense with the paranormal romance angle on top of everything. This book has everything to satisfy the book lover out there. Ian and Fiona’s love story will have you rooting for their love as I was. My rating: 4.7 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

A second chance for a hybrid and a dragon… This is the sixth book in the Darkness series that can be read as a stand-alone. Fifty-two years ago the hybrid shifter (half demon, half dragon) Ian McCabe found his mate and then lost her to the pressures of her dragon clan. He wasn’t an acceptable match with no family to speak of or support him. He was devastated when he learned she’d mated with another, as dragons mate for life that made her forever lost to him or so he’d thought until he learns of the deception played on him after he hears she now resides close by and that she’s alone and unmated. Nothing will stop him this time from claiming what’s always been his but it won’t be easy for she’s set on protecting him. Dragon shifter Fiona O’Riley is stunned to see the man she loves and knows is her mate when meeting the alpha of the area she’d settled in. She runs a shelter for abused paranormal women along with a female vampire friend. She knows firsthand from experience what it is to be abused by those who should care for you. She escaped from her abusive family years ago and now seeks to help others. Seeing Ian brings back all the memories of their time together and how her family dealt with the situation, though she’s broken off with them they could still seek to harm him. Before these two destined lovers can try to iron out things between them Fiona is attacked and her best friend is abducted and taken into a hell realm right after they’d learned from a friend of abductions and a deadly drug specifically meant to harm humans being produced. As part demon Ian is familiar with the hell realms. The alpha of the area with a team join Ian and Fiona as they set out to rescue her friend and stop what is going on. What they find is a plot more despicable than they could ever have imagined and has ties to both Fiona’s and Ian’s families. These two lovers may not survive the maelstrom that they walked into and time is not on their side. Amidst an intensely suspenseful action packed storyline with unexpected plot twists we follow the reunion of tragically separated lovers in the present timeline while we learn their history with jumps back to past remembrances. These were great protagonists, totally devoted to each other though they were leading separate lives with no contact between them, no one else but their mate would do. From the past to the present we see the growth that each exhibited from the passage of the years. Theirs was an epic kind of love, destined to be yet made to wait for fruition. The ending was bittersweet and had this reader hanging on the edge of her seat as to what would happen, you have to swoon at how he would not let her go without him if the fates so decided. There was also a second romance for the healer of the pack which was impacted by the plight of Ian and Fiona. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author. 4.5 stars

4.5 - "Will you fly with me..?" Stars! The sixth book in Katie Reus’ Darkness series, finally gives us dragon/demon shifter Ian McCabe’s story. I have been dying to find out more about this guy since we were introduced to him a couple of books ago. And as expected, Katie didn’t disappoint, Saved by Darkness was as enjoyably roller-coaster as its predecessors, and the reconnection after fifty years apart between Ian and Fiona was played out around another really good suspenseful story-line. "I made a promise…" As you would expect if you have read the previous books from the series, a lot is going on in this book, with quite a few POVs thrown into the mix to make sure you are given the story from all sides. I liked that Ophelia the Stavros Pack’s healer and young wolf shifter Gray played a little part in its telling as well as getting lots of involvement from all of the usual characters that I have come to love from reading the previous books. She couldn’t walk away from him again. Her heart couldn’t take it and she didn’t think his could either… There were reasons for Ian and Fiona’s original separation, and as they start to talk to each other more about the intervening years, they both realize that a lot of what they believed to be true of the other is actually down to the manipulation of the truth from Fiona’s family. We travel to another Hell Realm in this one as well, and I love that although from the authors imagination I never struggle to visualize the places she takes her readers too. I adore this series, I have adored every book that has come from it so far, and I cannot wait for more, and hopefully soon! **This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy of the book.

I absolutely love this series, and this book is one of the reasons why. In this story, it's Ian and Fiona' time to shine. And shine these two do. Not only do we get one heck of a story, we get suspense, mystery, and a holy hotness ride.We also get a few from previous books in this series show up. I love it when that happens. Demons and Family be damned Ian intends to keep her this time but will he get to? Grab your copy and find out.

Great series. Lots of suspense and strong emotions. Ian and Fiona met and fell in love years ago but we're torn apart by Fiona's family. To keep him safe Fiona has stayed away but when Ian finds out that she is in the same area, he is determined that he will not lose her again. Embracing their happily ever after won't be easy. Ian and Fiona are in for the fight of their lives against known and unknown enemies. Believing that their love for one another and being given a second chance at that love, Ian and Fiona refuse to give up and won't let those helping them give up either. I received an advance reader's copy in exchange for an honest, unpaid review.
