    Great story

Loved the story and the characters. I was afraid the author would have the female character a damsel in distress. Instead, Abby is a survivor.

This book was good. Aby was great in this story , I thought for sure her past would ruin her future but it tured out great. The captains story was really good too. I didn't think about how a person in the service can have there whole future change by a person who accuses  them of misconduct sameon them. Great story .

Great read for a free book!

Loved this story and was so glad to find out that the sequel, Vanished, is already out and I don't have to wait for it! I got this book free on my nook and am really excited to buy the sequel. Don't mind spending the money when I already know it will be good. Thank you for offering the first one free! Can't get much better than that.

    Good read!!

As a military brat, I recognized some of the men my dad and then later my husband served with. I loved the basic storylune but felt some of the more personal aspects of the main characters were kind of forced. Overall, I enjoyed the book very much and would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick read.

Wish it could have been more true to life. We know there are many cases of abduction/forced prostitution, so this takes on the aspect of the English Lady on a pirarte ship....and the instant attraction...obsession of the captain of a US Navy ship is too ridiculous...lots of story and lots of room for improvement

I liked the storyline. It deals with human trafficking and I loved that the main female character is a survivor and a fighter. I felt as if the Captain could use some sensitivity training in dealing with her traumatic abduction. He rescues her from her situation of captivity, near death, and unspeakable abuse and demands of obedience from her captor. He then ends up demanding her complete obedience to him in whatever he orders her to do, as he is Captain and doesn't like his orders questioned or disobeyed. Understandable from his crew, but in dealing with someone who is in a fragile state as she was, I just don't see how she is much better off. Especially how the Captain states his view of women that they should be home, doing what they were meant to do: taking care of the home, cooking and raising kids. I actually wanted more for the main female character than to be stuck with this guy, who actually had a pouting fit that lasted a few weeks, right after saying their vows, when she wasn't grateful for him marrying her. yikes.

After much debate, I read this story. I had read other reviews indicating that it is woman bashing (my words not theirs), especially the behavior of men to women in the military. While I agree that the portrayal of women in the military in this story isn't what it should be, it is fairly consistent with what I know about the treatment from that time period. It is getting better now, however there is still a long way to go.

I liked some aspects of this story. The focus on human trafficking is really needed, it exists, it happens and could happen at anytime anywhere to you. The need to put an end to it is long overdue. I liked that the story shows the characters as flawed and needing work, especially the Captain. He is old fashioned in both good and bad ways. He has a hot temper, impatient and stubborn. He is also honest. He doesn't mess around with subtleties or being diplomatic, He states his beliefs and makes no apologies. He is also a hero, those old fashioned ways to the good. He steps up to comfort, watch out for and protect those he feels need it, including women. There is respect there and his treatment of his crew is exacting, tough and expects perfection always. Uncaring of hurt feelings. He is also consistent in these dealings, because of this his department (?) heads attempt to keep women under their charge out of his way.

I liked the story itself. As you can tell from the above, the characterization was excellent. To have a reaction from the reader good or bad shows a good storyteller. The pacing was good although some actions seemed to be repeated over and over again. I did grow impatient about mid-way through and skipped ahead to the last 3/4 of the story, didn't feel I missed much. I could easily see this story taking place.

With the adult themes and content, I don't recommend for anyone under 14+ and mature.
