Olympic Gold Medalists Kate Peterson (U.S.) and Alexei Petrova (Russia) haven't seen each other in eight years--not since their teenage affair ended after Alexei was forced back to Russia. But in the here and now, they're about to be reunited at the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, California.
Kate's agreed to participate in the Torch Lighting Ceremony because she's on the verge of losing her eyesight to a mysterious illness, and she can't afford the experimental surgery that could restore her vision. With a little luck she just might land an endorsement deal at the Olympics--her only shot at funding the surgery.
Alexei's living in the States now, where he's made a fortune selling "himself". He's also made enemies with a U.S. senator who wants him deported. But his plight becomes secondary after he runs into Kate at the Olympics. Clearly, she's hiding something, and he's shocked when he finds out what.
Once Alexei learns of Kate's illness, saving her becomes his top priority--but will he save her only to be forced, once again, from her life?

Sandra Edwards has been yet another sweet and satisfying read in Saving Katya. Alexei is so sexy, and Katya's reasons for avoiding him will tug at your heart. I highly recommend!
A story full of emotion, Saving Katya touched my heart. Faced with losing one of the most important aspects of her life, Kate has to make some major decisions. While struggling with all she has to faced Kate is reunited with her first love Alexei. Amid unexpected surprises, well kept secrets and painful admissions, Alexei is determined to gain back everything he loss. Although some parts of the story came across cheesy and major points could have been better explained and not glossed over-I found this to be a beautiful love story.
Liked it!It was great to read what could happen if you let your mind create the scenarios for you instead of getting the facts. That misunderstandings could change your whole life.
Sandra Edwards is the queen of short overcoming trials and love stories.I am not a contemporary romance reader normally but this was a free read from IBooks. I enjoyed this book, but not as much as I enjoyed her novella "Separate Ways." that was included at the end of this ibook read. I loved "Separate Ways" from the very start. It was written as if I was Gingers friend and she was telling me about her day. I wanted to read more about the Franklin girls so I am waiting anxiously for Edwards new series called "The Lonely Heart Club" if you enjoy reading books that make you feel as if you are an active participant than Sandra Edwards is your writer.
Great love story. Wish it was longer.
What a sweet love story! This one will really tug at your heart. I loved the storyline and couldn't wait to find out if and how Katya and Alexei would find their happy ending. Beautifully done! Highly recommend!
Saving Katya is a beautiful romance that left me sighing at the end. I loved the unique setting, the world of Olympic ice skating. Katya, a former Olympic champion, has fallen on hard times. She has a young daughter whom she's fiercely protective of. Katya also has a serious medical condition and needs money to fund an experimental medical procedure. When Alexei, her former love and skating partner, enters her life again, she realizes she's never stopped loving him. But Alexei's changed, gotten colder and more businesslike as he's grown very wealthy. And he'd dumped her years before. Alexei has issues with Katya too, and he's learned to hide his feelings after she ran away from him. I loved reading about these two really engaging characters as they learn to trust again. But when Alexei learns a secret Katya has kept from him all these years, their tenuous relationship threatens to explode. Saving Katya kept me reading to find out how Katya and Alexei would resolve their many issues. The ending was extremely satisfying.
