5 stars = I freaking LOVED this book
Sawyer Says is a spin-off of sorts from Him and Her as it’s Sawyer’s story. I have to say that I absolutely adored Sawyer in Him and was so excited when given the opportunity to read and review this book. Ms. Heywood’s writing was just as solid this time around and I must confess that I enjoyed Sawyer Says even more than I enjoyed Him and Her.
Once you get past the heart breaking Prologue, the book opens with Sawyer coming to terms with her oldest friend being her new roommate and her sudden awareness of just how hot Jared is. Fortunately for the reader (and Jared), Sarah plants a seed in Sawyer’s head regarding Jared, thus leading to some seriously hot wedding sex … whew. And I will confirm that the level of heat never goes down because once these two acknowledge their attraction for one another, well you might as well have poured gasoline on that fire. These two together are H.O.T! And while there was plenty of Oh! My! God! Sex, this book was about so much more as Sawyer learns about herself, her grandmother, and the friends who love here.
Sawyer Says is an excellent tale of self-discovery as secrets are revealed that force Sawyer to reevaluated major parts of her life. That she got to go on that journey while in the company of Jared just makes her one lucky woman. I thoroughly loved this book and look forward to reading more of Ms. Heywood’s work. Sawyer Says is an excellent spin-off from the Him Series and can be read without having read Him and Her.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Carey Heywood writes a great book!! When I first met Sawyer in Carey's book HIM, I liked her instantly! She took care of her friends, she just never took care of herself!! I was drawn to Jared, as her childhood friend, and then, as her love interest! What started out as strictly physical, subtly turned into more. While Sawyer was dealing with strong emotions of her past, Jared was becoming more and more aware of his emotions of the present, and did everything her could to make Sawyer comfortably aware of this. For me, the beauty of Jared is that he didn't start out as the hot guy I immediately fell madly for, BUT I did find myself thinking about him when I was doing everyday ordinary things like grocery shopping or making dinner! Jared seeped into my soul, and that's the kind of character you want in a book and person! This is a great story of discovering personal history and planning future history at the same time!! I was impressed by all the geographical journeys and discoveries! AND I got a little visit from Will and Sarah... Who I LOVE! Sawyer says is a fabulous read!!!Was this review helpful? I loved Sawyers snip its from Him & Her and was so happy that she got her own book. Sawyer is a call it like you see it kind of girl and that's what I loved about her. She always speaks her mind, but the downside is she holds people at arms length so they can't get close. My heart broke for her and the fact that she thinks she's damaged and doesn't deserve love. Jared is the perfect guy all around and when they are together, it's mind blowing. This book couldn't have ended better. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I absolutely LOVED this book. I fell in love with Sawyer in Him/Her but really grew to understand her in Sawyer says. The reasons why she was the way she was and thought the way she did. I love how Jarred stayed with her and showed her that she was capable of love and deserved loved. When she found out why it was earth shattering. I highly recommend this series Him/Her followed by Sawyer. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Sawyer Says by Carey Heywood is a supremely well-written, heartfelt story that keeps you guessing how the relationship between Jared and
Sawyer will develop. They conquered obstacle after obstacle and came out strong. Carey Heywood makes you feel every emotion that
the characters are going through.

First let me wipe the tears away. The sadness and pain that Sawyer feels in the prologue is palpable. The fear breaks my heart.
The journey that Sawyer embarks on to find out about her family and about love is good--like Jack Kerouac good. When she opens up her heart and mind to the love that is all around her, her strength and sense of self grows. Which is saying a lot considering how amazing Sawyer is in Him and Her. She tells it like it is all the while keeping a distance from any commitments.
Then there is Jared. Jared gets Sawyer completely-heart and soul. Carey has given him a wonderful voice. I love the 1/2 chapters, I love knowing Jared's mind. How much he misses her, how well he knows her and loves her..how he will be happy being Uncle Jared if that is what she wants! When Luke and Jared are at the studio-how Jared goes there to check in cause he knows that will make Sawyer happy. (Maybe I love Sawyer too much?? naaaaaaah!)
Beautiful when Marie tells Sawyer-- "you love him. The rest is thinking too much."
The letters Carmen gives her. When she calls Sarah I started crying again-"she cries for me" and Sawyer allowing herself to believe she is loved...
And when she tells Jared she loves him-that scene is crystal clear to me in my head.
Especially love how Jared is still his own person even while he gives his heart to Sawyer, and would never ask her to change-just to trust him and let him in.
Love the ease and passion between Sawyer and Jared. They fit. Even after knowing each other so long they are still learning about each other. Their transition from friends to lovers- while rocky in the beginning- grew with ease.
I loved this book, it blended the right amount of romance, grief, hope, friendship and hot as hell love. Super kudos to Carey Heywood.

I gave this book 5 Stars.
Carey is one of the Authors that is my go to Author, when I feel down and need to read a GOOD book, I open one of her books and it makes me feel better. I will one click Carey without a doubt every time she has a new book! She is as sweet as she is a talented! If this tells you anything I own all her books in PB as well. You can't go wrong with her. And especially with this book. Yes she has done it again.
Sawyer is from the Series HIM, she is the best friend. This is a stand alone so you will be able to read it without worrying if you're missing something. But I will say that if you have not read the Series that you should, you will fall in love.
Sawyer is feisty and mouthy but on the inside she just need someone to show her love is real! Jared is that man.
Sawyer is a bad a$$ on the outside, you learn this in HIM. She says what she feels and she doesn't lie, sometimes it comes out a little brass and sometimes she gets in trouble with the things that she just blurts out. She is this way for a reason, when she was young her parents died in a car crash and she was taken in by a grandmother that didn't want her, only to turn around and give her away. Sawyer feels abandoned and alone, and when you feel that your defenses are up and you don't let anyone in. That is why she is the way she is, but there is an exception to everything and well Jared is that for her. He is her oldest friend, and when her room mate and best friend moves out to get married, she lets Jared move in, not realizing that she has feelings for him.
Jared is smart, he is sweet and loving and is attracted to Sawyer for longer then he can remember, he has known her almost his whole life. But he knows to tread carefully with her, otherwise she will run.
Being in love with Sawyer has its challenges, more than most, but if anyone can handle them it's Jared. He loves Sawyer unconditionally and is always there and always will be. He is patient with her and gives her the space she needs to think that she is in control.
This is a sweet, adorable, loving book and is on the top of my list for 2014. I needed to read this. I have been in a funk and was thinking that I was never going to get out of it. I have read book after book and although they have been good books, there was still something that kept my mind spinning and wanting to go on to the next book on my list. I got so into this book that I thought about nothing else. Thank you Carey for an amazing read! I cannot wait to read your next story!!! <3

I really enjoyed this book. There wasn't all that unnecessary information that some books have. I also loved how all the questions Sawyer had were answered so you wouldn't be left with questions unanswered yourself. The book even pulled at my heartstrings and I found myself with tears in my eyes. Another hit by Carey Heywood. I'm ready for more Sawyer!
I would recommend reading Him and Her first but it is not necessary.
