What a myth-o-maniac (that's old Greek-speak for "liar")! Zeus's version of the myths is completely wrong. It's time to set the record straight. For the first time ever, Hades, King of the Underworld, reveals the true story behind the myths.

That story about Perseus whacking the head off of the horrible snaky-haired Gorgon, Medusa? Oh, please. He got turned into a hunk of stinky cheese — gorgon-zola, of course!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Lisette Baez
Young readers will enjoy the humor as they learn the "truth" behind the infamous stories of the Ancient Greek Gods according to Hades, God of the Underworld. The novel provides a new perspective, and offers an amusing and educational approach to the history and myths of Ancient Greece. This unique narrator, Hades, claims to know the "real" stories as opposed to the original storyteller, his brother Zeus, also known as the "big fat liar." Readers can get to know the real Medusa, and the truth behind that creepy head of snakes. "King Hades's Quick and Easy Guide to the Myths" found in the back of the book will further assist readers in learning and remembering the Greek Gods and the abilities they each possess. Also, readers can flip to the glossary for any help with unfamiliar words and use the discussion and writing prompts to further his or her reading experience. Children can also expand their interest in Greek mythology by checking out the many other books of the "Myth-O-Mania" series. Educators can use this series as a new approach to teaching the Ancient Greek Myths. It can be helpful in promoting and reinforcing comparing and contrasting skills using Hades and Zeus as the subject. Whether for educational use or personal reading enjoyment, children will enjoy this novel. Reviewer: Lisette Baez

i love this book so much. it totally got me into Greek Mythology and i think that it is really funny from Hades point of view. Kate McMullan has totally given Hades another personality that most wouldn't even consider for the poor guy. i think that we seriously need to start rethinking our views of the greek god of the underworld

This book is hilarius. All about the greek myths and how everything is 'actualy how the gods are'.I liked on how some things that are put in there is based off of the real greek myths, and it is still funny.

This book was to good to put down. When school got in the way I had to stop reading it. I was almost done too. Then two years later I started reading it again. I was so happy to start to read it again. School got in the way again so I stopped.:( Then two monthes later I started reading it again. I was jumping happily and crazily around my house because I was finished. I am going to read it again and again. Thats how much I liked it.

The first book (Have a Hot Time Hades) was really good. Then it sort of went downhill, but I would recomend all of these books if you don't have anything to read.
