Summerhill, Book 1

Rosalind Summerhill is on the verge of becoming the next Vera Wang, as far away from her family and their drama as she can get. The last thing she wants is to leave San Francisco for London, especially not to deal with her father's latest scandal--dying in his mistress's arms. At least she can find comfort in knowing she can leave after the memorial.

Little did she know.

Not only is her father's will missing but, according to his lawyer, her mother will lose everything if it's discovered. Reluctantly joining forces with her sisters to seek and destroy the will is the only way of ensuring her father doesn't win in the end.

Enter Nick Long, the one bright spot about being in London. Nick's everything she's ever dreamed of in a man--supportive, eager to help, and bone-meltingly hot. But Nick's motives aren't as pure as they seem, and the secret he's keeping may tear Rosalind's family and fortune apart.

Meet the Author

Kate has tangoed at midnight with a man in blue furry chaps, dueled with flaming swords in the desert, and strutted on bar tops across the world and back. She's been kissed under the Eiffel Tower, had her butt pinched in Florence, and been serenaded in New Orleans. But she found Happy Ever After in San Francisco with her Magic Man.

Kate's the bestselling author of the Laurel Heights Novels and Summerhill series, plus a few other books thrown in. She's been translated into several languages and is quite proud to say she's big in Slovenia. All her books are about strong, independent women who just want love.

Most days, you can find Kate in her favorite café, working on her latest novel. Sometimes she's wearing a tutu. She may or may not have a jeweled dagger strapped to her thigh...

I was so looking forward to reading this book I had never read anything by this author and her stories all received good ratings and she had a series of books which were a continuation of characters you were already introduced to I had my next month if reading planned! Unfortunately, for me, this story and the charcters fell short in all catagories. I will be honest and say I do not care for most stories written with England as the back drop. Falling in love at first sight, alot of average "romance story" characters and story line. Suffice to say, I won't be reading any of the sequels- bummed

Review: Summerhill #1: Say You Will

Say You Will by Kate Perry is the first book in the new Summerhill series. The main focus of this story was on Rosalind Summerhill, a clothing designer, and on Nick Long, a race*car driver/Calvin Klein underwear model. (*Swoon*) They are NOT the only focus though. We get to meet what seems like the entire Summerhill clan and then some leaving many doors open for future books.

So when an esteemed British family is mourning the passing of their patriarch and can't find the will, believing that perhaps their father left everything to his mistress who died in the same accident, what happens next?

Well the Summerhill girls all pull together to try and get to the bottom of the missing will, the secrets that they're hiding from each other, and come to terms with the messy situation that their father left for them.

I like that there was many references to the past, such as a necklace passed down from the 18th century, older ancestral buildings and written history, but all told in a modern setting.

I would definitely like to read more about these Summerhill sisters.

I was given and ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I will start by saying that I thought I knew what I was getting into but really had no clue. There were so many different story lines involving secondary characters that it kept me on my toes.
I loved the character development throughout the story and that you got to see different people grow, come out of their shells or stand up for themselves. It was great to see these things happen. I can honestly tell you I laughed with the girls and guys! I cried with them and I felt their frustration! I felt like they were my friends and that I was there with them throughout all the trials and obstacles they faced. I became so invested in such a short period of time and I didn’t want it to end! I can’t wait for the next book! I hope it comes soon as I will be antsy for it. I recommend the book to anyone who likes to see families grow and learn to love, new love, sisterly battles, and new friendships forming. This was such a fun and happy read. Grab a copy and FAST! Kate is definitely someone to keep your eye out for. She is going to keep the awesome stories coming for years I’m sure! 5/5

Kate Perry delivers a sweet and seductive story with a sassy alp

Kate Perry delivers a sweet and seductive story with a sassy alpha female heroine that will have you laughing and blushing with her brashness.  Rosalind Summerhill is not shy about going after what she wants.  She is feisty, smart, and sexy wedding dress designer that is sought after by many women.  Rosalind is extremely talented when it comes to making a brides dreams come true but, is not so savvy when it comes to her own.
Nick Long is a formula 1 race car driver that is ready to retire and settle down.  His friends think he is crazy because he is too young to retire.  When his sister Summer concocts this crazy scheme in order to get closer to the Summerhill family, he finds that he can’t tell her no, and before he knows it everything goes to hell in a hand basket.
I loved the banter between Nick and Rosalind.  Say You Will  feels like a historical romance set in modern times.  You are experiencing a family whose history spans generations and are learning about their customs and family rituals all the while the Summerhill women are on their cell phones sending text messages and surfing the web.  This story was very unique and I was pleasantly surprised by the historical aspect of it.  I also loved how Kate developed the supporting cast and I can’t wait to read Portia, Summer, Viola, Immogen, and Bea’s stories.
If you are a modern girl who likes a little piece of history and royalty to go along with your romance then you will love the Summerhill Series.
