I purchased this book to learn more about Guitar Scales played over Dominant Seventh Chords, and to review my study of the Modes which are derived from the Major Scale. What I found was the relationship of the Dominant Seventh Chords and the Mixolydian Mode/Scale, and a straight-to-the-facts explanation of Modes. I was overjoyed! Exactly what I was looking for! But that was just the tip of the "iceberg" of knowledge contained in this book. It has material that has taken me 30 years to obtain. Notation & Tablature with a CD for Audio Example. I was glad I bought this one! You will be too.

This book covers the major scale and all the derrived modes. It uses the popular CAGED system (see book: Fretboard Logic) for playing these scales/modes in 5 positions. I practiced the things in this book from cover to cover and found it good for my sightreading and for practicing the CAGED system. It is a good first step, but don't expect that you will never play bad notes after reading this book!
