Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heidi Green
This Bank Street Ready-to-Read book follows Scamper the squirrel from his first spring to his second in the park where he lives. Scamper finds something new to enjoy about each of the four seasons, though only Spring's diversion is not related to food. A limited vocabulary and text-driven pictures should aid beginning readers wanting to read the book themselves. Kindley's conclusion to the story is a satisfying surprise.
School Library Journal
K-Gr 1This beginning reader follows the activities of a park-dwelling squirrel throughout the four seasons. Colorful drawings portray the non-anthropomorphized Scamper and a variety of children who play in a city park. The vocabulary is a bit too difficult for very early readerssurprising in a book labeled "Level 1." A bland addition to a heavily used area of the collection.Lisa Smith, Lindenhurst Memorial Library, NY
