Looks can be deceiving, the same is true for reputations

As the head of his family, Robert Beckford, the Earl of Masten, was accustomed to dealing with various problems his siblings had caused of one sort or another. However he wasn’t prepared when his cad of brother ruined and then abandoned a young lady. To right the wrong, Robert married the girl himself; but his chivalry only went so far. He didn’t want a wife, and most certainly not a scandalous one. So after repeating his vows, he sent her packing, off to a secluded estate and expected her to stay put.

After years of mistreatment at the hands of her family, Lydia was prepared to be an accommodating wife; but her rigid and unforgiving husband asked too much of her. After languishing for years in her opulent prison, Lydia leaves her country estate for the glamour and excitement of London—and unfortunately her husband’s path.

    more from this reviewer

    An Enthralling Read!

This is an outstanding Regency period romance and one of the best I've read this year. It does deal with subject matter that some might find offputting, but it is handled in such a way that I could never see the heroine as a tragic victim because her soul is truly beautiful and her heart is that of a lioness. Her husband comes to view her as something quite extraordinary and redeems his character well before the book's conclusion.

I immediately downloaded all of the other titles in this series and can't wait to read them.!

    Fun twist!

I love the twist on this Regency romance. Definitely a fresh and fun take in a traditional setting. I loved it, and I definitely recommend it!

    The best series

This is the best series I have read in a long time. I bought all the books in it and was caught up in them so quickly I read all of them in less than a week. I hope this author continues to write more like these.

It was really good book but.........................................................
Spoiler alert---I'm not sure if this is a true spoiler but the subject of incest is an intregal part of the book.  Its not my favorite subject to read about.   I probably would have skipped the book had I known.   That said I did think it was well written and did like it.  Its just the incest thing creeps me out.
