Overview

In a perfect world, Leo, Baron Warhurst, would be at Queen Elizabeth’s court rubbing elbows with England’s most influential nobles. Instead, he is racing through the streets of London to quell the disastrous scandal of his sister’s illegitimate pregnancy. Additionally, his father’s indiscretions have left his estate in shambles, and marrying for money is the young nobleman’s only chance of salvaging his birthright.

Yet his carefully calculated plan is derailed when he meets Alice Croft, seamstress to Lord Hawkesbury’s Players and the woman hired to spy on his sister’s lover. Leo tells himself his relationship with the incomparable Alice is strictly business, but even his icy heart is no match for her fiery spirit. He knows that even the rumor of a liaison would ruin his chances of marrying well, yet the attraction burning between them is too powerful to ignore. Leo must choose, but how can any man reconcile duty to his family with such an all-consuming passion?
