Overview

With his rockin' alter ego, Chris Gaines, now on a well-deserved sabbatical, Garth Brooks returns to his country persona on Scarecrow, a mainstream effort long on the well-crafted songs and winning vocals common to Garth's familiar blockbusters. The bluesy harmonica wailing through "Wrapped Up in You" gets into a salty dialogue with the fiddle, adding a rave-up quality to a lighthearted love song. In his latest foray into topicality, Brooks offers "The Storm," a roiling, melodramatic account of a woman who hears "the warnings from her family roaring like a hurricane," as she tries to pick up the pieces in the wake of her man's unceremonious departure. The country swing of "Big Money" lightens the mood, and Garth responds with a folksy, jovial vocal advising kindness towards rich relatives " 'cause they just might put you in their will." In the same upbeat vein is the honky-tonk barn-burner "Squeeze Me In," a fiery duet with Trisha Yearwood. Turnabout being fair play, the freewheeling "Beer Run," a duet featured on George Jones's potent The Rock: Stone Cold Country 2001, turns up here as well. Scarecrow bows out on an optimistic note with the buoyant "When You Come Back to Me Again," which tells of the inevitable reuniting of parted but ever-faithful lovers. Despite his self-imposed retirement, Garth sounds like he's gotta lotta game left. Perhaps he's taking a cue from Michael Jordan...

Though no one song screams to be the favorite, the 12 tracks on Scarecrow make up an impressive and deserving follow up album for Garth's career- hilights are mr. midnight, why ain't I running, thicker than blood, the storm, and wrapped up in you

I haven't been this excited about an album since....uh...well, Sevens I guess...lol. Garth's last few albums have been good, but not fantastic. This album is fantastic. It really shows us why Garth is Tops and has been for so long. Beer Run definatly goes on the Friday night mix with Friends in Low Places. Run, don't walk, for this one!

THE CD IS THE BEST HE HAS COME OUT WITH IN THE LAST COUPLE YEARS. A FRESHER SOUND AND A LITTLE HUMOR IN THE PACKAGE TOO. EXCELLENT HANNUKAH OR CHRISTMAS GIFT THIS SEASON FOR ALL GARTH BROOKS FANS.

¿Scarecrow¿ is, again, a talented showcase of what Garth Brooks achieves when he opens himself up for all to see! As always, I start out with a few favorites that I could listen to nonstop. On ¿Scarecrow¿, my first-off favorites were When You Come Back To Me Again (of course), Wrapped Up In You, Pushing Up Daisies, and Beer Run. But, as always, the more I listen to the cd, the more songs I fall for. ¿Scarecrow¿ has been no exception. My favorites have grown to include Squeeze Me In, Thicker Than Blood, Big Money, and The Storm¿.and I know that Why Ain¿t I Running and Don¿t Cross The River are on their way to my heart. So, that leaves only Mr. Midnight and Rodeo Or Mexico, but of course, since no Garth song has ever not won me over eventually, it will happen. I read recently that Garth said that this recording was a healing process, and I can easily see that. Anyone who knew anything of what was going on in Garth¿s personal life these last few years can rejoice in his accomplishment¿both in the music and his personal life. The music flows smoothly with the highs and the lows of the various songs, and just when he gets you mellow, he turns it up, as any good Garth Brooks cd would do! Garth has always promised his ¿fans¿ a ride, and he hasn¿t let us down on this one. Atta boy G! Love, Kat a.k.a. WIKoKopelli

Wow. Scarecrow is awesome! I got this CD release day (11/13), and I knew it'd be good, but there is not one song on this CD I do not like. It's definitely one of my favorites! If you like Garth even a little bit, this is a must have. And if you're not sure, why not try it out? Oh, and it'll make great Christmas presents, too!

We have waited 4 years for new music from Garth and it was definitely worth the wait! This eclectic group of songs spans the wide range of Garth's emotions and musical influences. From the Bob Segar like ''Why Ain't I Running'' to the classic country ''Beerrun'' to the down-home toe tapper ''Wrapped Up in You'' to the very personal ''Thicker than Blood'' and ''Pushing Up Daisies'' to the rockin' duet with Trisha Yearwood ''Squeeze Me In'' to the Oscar nominated sentimental favorite ''When You Come Back to Me Again'', this new CD is a MUST have for anyone who loves good music!

Leaving Chris Gaines on the curb, Garth returns in his true-to-form country sound. Every track is incredible! The duo with George Jones is awesome. It truly doesn't get any better than this. Thanks for making the last CD the best!

It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a new release from GARTH BROOKS. It was worth the wait. The music on his last offering, ''IN THE LIFE OF CHRIS GAINES'' was outstanding, but it didn't satisfy the musical needs of many of his fans. (This FAN didn't find ANYTHING Lacking that project!) Scarecrow is the album to fix that. No matter what your taste in Country Music there is a song for you. It has some killer duets in ''Beer Run'' and ''Squeeze Me In''. We get to hear Garth doing what he does best. He moves us with the words, he inspires us with the music. He takes us somewhere we didn't know we wanted to go. He tells us a story with a song. ''Why Ain't I running?'', ''The Storm,'' ''Mr. Midnight'' and ''Thicker than Blood'' are all songs that touch something inside. Something in me recognizes a moment and more in those. The biggest surprise was ''Big Money''. It's a fun song, and you can't help but let a giggle sneak out.

Scarecrow is the perfect title for the album. The music on the album is full of heartfelt emotion! From Thicker than Blood to When You Come Back To Me Again the gut wrenching emotions of the lyrics will blow you away! Wrapped Up In You will leave you humming and ba baba ba 'ing all day long. If you want a great CD with a lot of variety buy this! You won't be disappointed.

Not that we should be suprised though, he is the biggest selling solo artist of all time. This album takes every track he's done before and wraps it all up in 12 amazing songs. This is definetly the album that sums up Garth Brooks' music. From ''Why Ain't I Running'' to ''When You Come Back to Me Again'', this is a very personal album and if there's one guy who can convey his feelings lyrically, it's Garth. If you're a Garth fan you'll love this album, if you're not, it'll open you up to a whole new world of music, he did that to me when he released No Fences...and I haven't look back since

MAN!!! Garth Brooks is still tearin' it up in the studio!! It is too bad that he is retiring. I think he still has a few rounds left in him, and this album is just one indication. This album is one of his better ones. I can't seem to turn it off. I even listen to it at school in between classes!! I love all of the songs, but was specially touched by The Storm. This album takes a deeper look into the personal life of the G-man. Each song has a piece of him in it. And for those of you who were frantically looking for the awesome song When You Come Back To Me Again (from Frequency), look no more! It is just one of the many powerful songs on this album. If you don't already have it, GO GET IT!! You won't be sorry!

I went to Garth's concert last night at the L.A. forum and today I went and bought the new Scarecrow CD. WoW!!!! It is all Garth! it was good to hear from him again. from the first song to the last you can tell that Garth, as always, put his heart into this Album. some songs are slow and heartfelt and some are upbeat and fun. All the words are there so we can sing along and as usual he included a couple small personal notes. If you like Garth you will like this CD.
