Meet the Author

Denise Joyce is a longtime editor for the Chicago Tribune and has the gold watch to prove it. She and her husband have two grown children; their behavior supports the theory that one out of every two children is terrified of Santa—and clowns.

Nancy Watkins is a Chicago Tribune features editor and writer who is much too good a mom to have ever forced her son, now 11, to sit on Santa's lap.

Traumatizing your toddler during the holidays seems to be a tradition for many families. It's amazing how many good parents (myself included) will insist that their terrified child sit on a stranger's lap. It's also amazing how funny those pictures can be! It brought back memories of every Santa our family has ever encountered. Loved it! Need pictures for the next edition?

The concept for this book was great. However, the formatting was terrible. Many of the pictures were so small that you couldn't see their faces. Captions were run together on one page and didn't seem to match up with a certain picture. Some pages had a one sentence caption and no picture - only to find the picture on another page. Very frustrating. I looked at the book again on my desk top PC and even with the large monitor, many of the pictures were very tiny and the formatting issues persisted. On a nook, it was almost impossible to get the humor out of the pictures since you couldn't see the facial expressions.
