About the Author

Steve Horn has played music for several decades. He holds a Bachelors of Music from The University of North Texas (formerly North Texas State University) and has experience in many styles of music including jazz, pop, rock, avant garde, medieval and Renaissance music, Irish folk music, blue grass, old time and other styles associated with American style contra dancing. Steve has played a variety of wind and plucked string instruments and now focuses mainly on mandolin. His reason for writing this book is spurred from his desire to break free from attachment to open strings and common keys associated with fiddle tunes and to be able to meld more flexibly with singers, instrumentalists, and a variety of music styles. Steve Horn developed methods that helped him overcome these hurdles and spread his playing to include all keys and the entire range of his instrument and now he wants to share this work and help others do the same.
