Francis Heller lives with two truths. Love hurts and beauty is only skin deep.
With midnight black hair, moss-colored eyes, and traceable curves, Fran is the picture of beauty and confidence...on the outside. But deep down she is tormented. Not just by the jagged scars that line her body, but by the horrible memories that cloud her mind and haunt her dreams. The ones that make her want to flee from herself and from the devastating pain. The ones that cause her to placate herself with sex. Anything to make her forget. But for Fran, there's nowhere to hide from the darkness that swallows her whole.
Matt Dixon is the gorgeous brother of her best friend's fiancée. He's suffered losses of his own and isn't willing to let anyone in until his unexpected encounter with Fran Heller, the girl who challenges him and causes him to take a second look, not only at her, but at his own life.
But Matt has scars of his own.
Together can they help each other discover that second chances really do exist? That love doesn't have to hurt? Or has the damage they've both suffered cut too deep to ever heal?

OMG!!! Love love loved this book!! Scarred beautiful is beautiful love story. Beth is such an amazing writer who has me ugly crying in all her books!! I really liked Matt in Love Love but I fall in love with him in this book. Fran and Matt are both broken and their story has you on the edge of your seat. It will really tug at your heart strings. Be sure to have a box of Kleenex nearby. I highly recommend this book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I gave this book 5 stars.
This is the first book that I have read by Beth Michele.
This is Fran and Matt's story.
Fran is a beautiful young lady that is scarred on the inside as well as the outside. Her life has been anything but normal. She has been hurt by one of the people you are suppose to trust the most. And now Fran has her walls high, and is not going to let anyone in.
Matt has lost two of the closest people in his life to him. He is hurt and devastated and his life will never be the same. He refuses to let anyone else in, he is afraid if he loves again he will lose again.
Matt and Fran meet at a conference in L.A. Matt lives in L.A. but Fran is from New York. She knows Matt because her best friend is dating Matt's brother Brad. They bump into each other at the conference and all bets are off. Instant sparks! Can they get past the hurts in their lives to let the walls down and learn to love again?
I have been in a book funk for a few weeks. I have read all that I am suppose to read, but there always seems to be something missing. I found it again in this book! This was surprisingly perfect! There wasn't the instant lets go and have sex. OR the I LOVE YOU! It was like I was back in High School and falling for my first love. The butterflies the feelings that you get when you see the guy that you know you just have to date. But in Adult format. I loved the feelings I got reading this and the excitement. I connected with both of these characters. I loved them!
The writing in this book is exceptional. The way she describes things and the way she writes a scene is amazing. She had me sucked in and wanting more. I never wanted the book to end. Beth is for sure headed for the big time. If she does not get snagged up by a publishing company there is something wrong with this world. I look forward to reading more of her work.. I went and one clicked all the other books that she had for sale. I am going to be a fan for life! Thank you Beth for your beautiful book. A book about loving someone for what is inside of them, learning that even after you lose so much there is always a second chance. Fate has plans for you in your life. And when they finally come around you find it is the most beautiful thing ever.

My rating: 4 of 5 ¿¿
To the observer, Fran Heller doesn't show the ugly scars that carve her body, heart and soul, she looks and acts the stunning twenty-eight year old she appears to be. And every day is a struggle for her to be that girl who is not haunted by dark memories and pain of loss, but she manages so long as she can keep her emotions at bay. But when she bumps into her best friend's bother in law at a conference she is attending, he stirs something up in her.
Not a stranger to pain and loss himself, Matt Dixon has found his own way of coping with his everyday existence. An incessant need to control his environment alleviates some of his anxiety around loss, but makes him appear rigid. When he spots Fran in the hotel lobby, he is struck by the beauty she radiates and taken by her smart mouth. She challenges him and he is surprised to find he likes it. But he isn't blind to the occasional shadow of darkness he sees passing over her face.
Over the next few days, Matt and Fran spend time getting to know each other and find themselves strongly attracted. Slowly opening up to share not just the lightness of their spirit but also the dark shadows of their heart. However, both crippled by fear of loss and rejection as well as limited by time and geographical restraints, is there hope of a future?
Such a 'feel-good' story!! I was left with warm fuzzies after reading this book, the 'good' kinda hangover!
Beth Michele writes a story that includes the difficult topic of child abuse without going into too much graphic detail. Nevertheless, the emotional horror comes across loud and clear. The damage done and the emotional scarring left on the now adult Fran is glaringly obvious, and I would venture to say that the emotional scars of the ultimate betrayal of a parent out-ways any physical scarring.
Fran has coped quite well in life, having been quite successful in her career, but on a personal level has trouble connecting deeply with people. Trust is and will likely always remain an issue for her. Her self-consciousness about her body, is not so much about her appearance, but about what it represents. Once trust is given, she isn't even aware of her body's appearance anymore.
In a relatively short time, Matt has lost all the influential people in his life, while he was still relatively young. Instilled with a great sense of responsibility, he picked up where they left off and took on the role of stability in the life of his siblings. Holding control tightly was his own security and letting go emotionally feels like letting go of control. His need for Fran finally overcomes that fear.
They find in each other a sanctuary of sorts, a place where they can truly let it all hang out. No holds barred.
Wonderful character development in some great writing by Beth Michele, smattered with humour and heat.
¿A tight, touching and softly seducing read.¿

This was another fantastic book by Beth Michele! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the characters and story was well written.
Fran and Matt were a great couple. Their personalities complemented on another. Matt is a bit uptight when he first runs into Fran but she gets him to loosen up. Fran has shut herself off from everyone but Matt manages to bring her out of her shell. There was so much chemistry between them and I loved watching their relationship grow and heal each other. Their friends were great supporting characters and I loved all of them. Each person had their own personality and I felt drawn to root for them and their story.
This was a wonderful story and I really enjoyed it. The story flowed really nicely. It was emotional at times but also very sweet and romantic at other times. I’m looking forward to more from the author. This was a fantastic 5 out of 5 stars!

I am officially a Beth Michele fan. Scarred Beautiful was my first Beth Michele book and she nailed it for me. This book has everything I’m looking for in a book. It had heartache, it had angst, it had happy moments, and it was H.O.T. I had a hard time putting this book down and caught myself sneaking a read when I would wake up in the middle of the night.
We meet Fran who is moving up the corporate ladder and is heading out to her first conference in a new position. Fran has some skeletons, or in her case scars, in her closet. Scars she hides from everyone. She also hasn’t had an easy go at life the past few years. All that together keeps her closed off from people. She only has 1 close friend and won’t even think about a relationship.
Then walks in Matt, the super successful business man who it H.O.T. Major swoon worthy points with him. He also had scars of his own. Scars that have made him try and control every part of his life that is till he meets Fran. They are attending the same conference and as soon as they meet she turns his life upside down and he isn’t sure if he is ready for it.
The secondary characters were a perfect fit. I loved Caleb and Peyton; they were the perfect sidekicks for Fran and Matt. I enjoyed seeing the relationships between the family members that were brought in also. Caleb’s family, can I make them my own?
I really enjoyed this couple. I loved watching their relationship grow. The banter between Fran and Matt is great and it made me smile and laugh. Fran is a fire cracker that is trying to pull that stick out of Matt’s ass, and he isn’t sure why but he is drawn to her, but he is. The book only takes place within about a week or so and it didn’t feel rushed. They take their time getting to know one another. The epilogue was perfect. I, of course, would love more of their story, but am so happy with the way things were left. If you are looking for that heartwarming book that will in the end make you smile; this is it.

So this is about the brother and the best friend of Brad and Gabby. Which I absolutely loved Brad. Such a normal guy that seeped into my heart. So I only expected that I would love Matt as well. They are close brothers but have completely different personalities. You get to hear more about Brad and Matt's family more and how it affected Matt the most. I knew what happened to Fran in her past. But this book gives you the specific details of what torture she went through. I think that with the two meeting, it helped both to move on and leave what happened in the past. They have a lot in common in a way and he helps her thru it. So sweet.
I run thru Beth's books so quickly because she keeps it interesting from page one thru the last page. I wish there was another Dixon brother! Loved them both but in a different way. He makes it on our list of the most awesomist real life book boyfriends!
I would rate the book a 4.5. Make sure you read Love, Love first before reading Scarred Beautiful. You need to read everyone's POV. Again, another must read book by Beth Michele! ¿
So we all know that I fell head over heels for Brad Dixon in Love, Love and he made my reread list. I think I have read that book 3-4 times since we did our review last year. Love him. So how did his big brother Matt measure up? There is definitely something about those Dixon boys. Beth did an amazing job making me love Matt almost as much as Brad. Matt is so super sweet and just (there is no other word) dreamy. He is smart, fun and cute. I mean how could you not love him. He is also very in tune with Fran and understands a lot of her emotions. Now you met Fran in Love, Love too and I really liked her in that book. She did not disappoint in this book. I loved getting to see more of her emotions and her softer side. Fran has had a rough life and I totally understand her reluctance to move on from Kyle (BTW thanks for those tears Beth!). I can't tell you anymore because I am afraid of giving too much away. I love, love this book!
I was literally in a book hangover after this book. I tried to read 3 of my faves afterward just to get over it and they did not even work. I am giving this book 4.6 stars out of 5. Go get this...if you have not read Love, Love DO IT FIRST!!! Then get this one and let us know which brother you like better!!!

Reading Beth Michele is like having that perfect piece of chocolate after a long day! I love they way she is really putting the "romance" back into contemporary romance novels. Scarred Beautiful took me by surprise and I loved every page, Beth Michele truly topped herself with this book!
If you are thinking that Scarred Beautiful is going to be a dark romance, think again. This is novel about two adults who have had life leave them with scars, both emotionally and physically, and learning that sometimes you have to risk your heart and open yourself up to find love. Fran is feisty and full of spark on the outside, but on the inside she is still trying to put the pieces life has left her in back together. She has quirks, phobias and insecurities, but I loved her character and found myself rooting for her the entire book. I wanted her to find her happy. Matt was the perfect compliment to Fran. He had to grow up faster than anyone should have to and has used control and structure to rule his life until Fran shows him that letting go (especially of that stick he is so fond of) and being spontaneous is what life is all about. Watching Matt fall for Fran was really beautiful and I loved getting inside his head with the dual POV of this book.
I fell in love with Scarred Beautiful instantly! I knew I would get a great read from Beth Michele but I found myself getting a book that truly touched my heart and had me falling in love with Matt and Fran! I didn't want the book to end (and I am secretly hoping for more if Peyton and Caleb get their story). Beth Michele is brilliant at creating heart tugging, emotional stories without crazy drama and intense angst, they are truly romantic stories about two people falling in love. Scarred Beautiful will leave you with a happy heart and a huge smile on your face (maybe some tears from the romance of it all too)!
If you are looking for a love story that has romance, wit and heart melting sweetness with a side of heat, then you absolutely must get Scarred Beautiful!

ARC Was Given To Blog For An Honest Review
This is one of those stories that remind us of the lessons instilled in us growing up; beauty is only skin deep. It does not matter how beautiful you are on the outside if you have ugly inside of you. It is unfortunate that many of us measure ourselves on what other people think and sometimes do not believe we are just as beautiful as the models that we see on covers of magazines. We often let what is on the outside define us and we hide.
What caught my attention in this story, right from the beginning, was how the author portrayed the female lead, Fran. She took us back to Fran’s childhood and it made me gasp and cry for the little Fran. We are then brought forward to find that Fran is gorgeous on the outside and inside, and has become a strong, independent woman who has made herself successful and has also found love with someone that accepted her, scars and all. Fran has a great job, great friends and is now trying to find out if she can survive after the loss of her first love. It’s humbling to watch her throughout this story as she struggles to bare her physical and emotional scars again, and take a chance.
Matt made me want to just curl up with him, hug him, and never let him go. His patience and understanding showed more beauty to me than the physical description by the author. Matt is the type of man that every woman should have a chance to meet at least once in her lifetime. He has been dealt a pretty crappy hand in his life too. He lost some of his family and that loss brings him sadness every day. He bares emotional scars that have caused him to be a bit of a control freak.
These two characters were made for each other.
Fran and Matt’s scars are worn differently but they bare them just the same. By the end of the story I truly became a believer that our lost loved ones are watching out for us.
Fran and Matt were so much fun to read about. They made me laugh and they had incredible chemistry, emotionally as well as physically. Matt has a great dirty mouth and I love that in male characters I read about; this is a huge turn on for me. The anticipation leading to them finally having sex left me panting. They just seemed to get each other. This relationship moves pretty quickly (time wise) and I know some people do not like that but I love it. I am all for the saying, “when you know, you know.” I believe there is no time limit that you need to have, to be in love.
This story met all of my needs: it flowed beautifully, you feel as if you get to know each character really well; even the supporting ones (I want a spinoff story for Caleb!) It had its conflict but not crazy conflict. It was ultimately a story of a relationship from beginning to happy ending. We got to watch it grow and blossom, and believe in love, and remember that our scars do not have to define us. We can wear them proudly because it shows we survived.

Beth Michele's story, SCARRED BEAUTIFUL, about love, loss and longing and friendship, was such a pleasure to read! I fell instantly in love with all of the characters(and was secretly pleased I knew a bit about Fran from Beth Michele's first book Love Love). The story of Fran and Matt swept me away with sweetness, wit and warmth. I was rooting for them the whole time and thorougly enjoyed getting to know all of the supporting characters too(Especially Peyton, Caleb and The Brodys!) I cried, my stomach bottomed out at the romance, and I smiled the whole way through!! Nods to another favorite book and author of mine being mentioned in the story, as well as childhood heroes!! This was greatly appreciated!! And what a perfect title!!!!!! This one will stick with me for a long, long time! Thanks, Beth!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
