Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"There are some sweet sophisticated patterns in this collection...She creates a look that is romantic, yet contemporary, with a range of scarves, shrugs, and shawls that are sure to be the focal point of any outfit! This book offers endless inspiration." —Knit 1-2-3

"My favorite feature of the book, which in my mind makes it well worth owning if you knit a lot of scarves, is the section called "How To Wear." This is the key to all mysteries when it comes to wearing scarves, shawls and shrugs, including the clever convertible ones with buttons, but also covering different ways to tie them so they don't dangle haplessly—they look chic." —Kay Gardiner, author of Mason-Dixon Knitting

Scarves, Shrugs & Shawls: 22 Knitted Designs with Their Special Techniques is a gorgeous pattern book for knitters

I have to say Scarves, Shrugs & Shawls: 22 Knitted Designs with Their Special Techniques is a gorgeous pattern book for knitters. There is a wide array of beautiful scarf, shrug & shawl patterns in this collection. The creations in this book are meant to be made using Rowan Yarns.

I myself have not tried any of these patterns, my review is based on the design, layout, clarity and variety within this book. However, looking within these pages makes me green with envy over people who can knit like this!

The beautiful knitted designs within this book are showcased with clear and vibrant photos. These patterns look to be clearly written and in detail, with photographs and diagrams included.

There's a section called Special Techniques, which shows how to complete a wide variety of techniques needed for the patterns.

What I found to be an extra nice touch is that there is a section called How To Wear which explains the different ways to wrap and tie your knitted creations. The designer shows you different ways to wear your finished projects. One of the stole patterns can be worn in four different ways, as scarf, shrug, cape, poncho and bolero. I would have never thought of that without seeing the How To Wear section.

Overall, I think with its nice variety of elegant knitted designs, Scarves, Shrugs & Shawls: 22 Knitted Designs with Their Special Techniques is a lovely pattern book for any knitters collection. I think this book would be for intermediate to advanced skill lever knitters. I myself am at beginners level, so I'll save these patterns for when I hone my knitting skills a bit more.
