S.C.A.T. is a collection of exciting stories that will have you on the edge of your reading chair. If you enjoy watching crime shows on television like NCIS, Law and Order, or Criminal Minds, you will love this book. Mike had a truly unique experience as an undercover agent and his stories will have you laughing and crying within chapters. Definitely worth the read!

I walked away with a totally different appreciation for law enforcement. How every situation touches every cop, and every memeber of a cop's family . . .physically, mentally, and emotionally.. .and how much toll it takes personally on them. How much of themselfs they lose because they have to be strong, and how the things that happen to them on the job make them the people they are . . .Dan and his temptations, Michael going as far as opening his home to young girl in need. . .I think the book was educational, opening us normal people's eyes as to what personal sacrifices are made to protects us. . .you really should write another.

Michael introduces us to his fellow team members and catapults inside the world of undercover police work. From high speed chases, to the ghetto, and inside the world of an outlaw motorcycle gangs we experience it all as if we were really there, yet the author remains humble and honest throughout the novel. We obviously never know who we are passing on the street or in the airport, an undercover police officer or someone else? I too appreciated that each chapter brought closure to the assignment, ending with the bad guys going off to jail and justice served. Once you start reading this book you just won¿t be able to stop. Please keep writing for us Michael.

S.eduction, C.ourage, A.ppreciation, T.eamwork: S.C.A.T. is filled with integrity and charm from beginning to end. Teamwork is critical as Michael, Joe, Dan, and Fern go about doing their job in very dangerous and precarious situations. After reading S.C.A.T., it is more interesting to read or listen to today's news. The book becomes a part of you and stays with you. You begin to analyze present day crime situations with stories in S.C.A.T. and wonder if it was a Special Crime Attack Team involved. Michael has a knack for being at the right place at the right time. My favorite chapters were Chapter 21 with danger, charm, ingenuity, compassion, and appreciation; and Chapter 12 with danger, revenge, and sophistication. There is sex, abuse, drugs, mobsters, motorcycle gangs, and ordinary people. Michael was our speaker recently for our secretaries¿ retreat. He was delightful and was the same Michael in his book. It was great listening to his stories first hand as he brought them to life. Michael spoke to us about keeping safe. Our group really enjoyed him and it was such a pleasure to meet him. Producers have talked to Michael about making S.C.A.T. into a movie. We can't wait! Michael is a dedicated and faithful Law Enforcement Officer and is a credit to the profession. Michael is definitely a blue angel. Thank you Michael for making this a safer world for us to live!

S.C.A.T. is a very readable and compelling book of the adventures of Michael, the unflappable undercover agent. The book chronicles a number of exciting episodes but my favorite is the one where Michael burrows through a drainage system where he had played as a child only to find the going a little rougher this time. The evening ends with a fellow officer shot, a mother and baby safe, well.... I won't tell you the rest. Please read S.C.A.T. for a very sensitive yet realistic glimpse into the daily assignments of an undercover officer!

Don't start S.C.A.T. if you have something to do later on. I couldn't stop until the book's last page had been read. I guess I didn't realize that our police dept.s employed these 'specialized units' that are really this 'SPECILIZED'. Law Enforcement is certainly complex and dangerous. Michael's book hits you right in the mouth with real life experiences in the underworld of sex, drugs, youth abuse, and violence we would rather believe doesn't exist in our society. What a movie this would make!!!

Michael brings forth the courage and dedication of the undercover police in a very vivid way. An unforgettable read of at least four stars

Officer Egbert has enjoyed an interesting and varied career - has served his community in the line of duty, and has served all citizens by sharing his experience with us. To the extent that Ms. Neuberger has assisted Mike bringing his story to us, she also has served us by presenting this important work to the world at large.

This real life police story is packed with action and suspense. I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to know how each case ended and what happened to the characters. It's a real page-turner.

I love a good crime or mystery story. The super investigators and super cops in literature today - are burdened by a variety of deficiencies, enhanced by mental and physical excellence and/or eccentric characteristics which turn them into the characters we all enjoy (otherwise they would not be so popular). But what is the real world in the fight against crime? Michael Egbert's contribution to crime literature is a reality check. And this reality is anything but boring. If you enjoy your crime/mystery reading as much as I , do not miss this one. It will enhance your enjoyment of the whole genre.

America would never be America without people like Michael. Brave, young policeman as Michael was and I believe still is, he had to talk, teach or, thanks to God to write about that part of his life for us all. Goodness, honesty, humaneness! So much crowns a good policeman. We have to know about hard life policemen usualy live. Thanks to Michael we know more about it. S.C.A.T is an outstanding book. Surprisingly, it was Michael's first book. Let us hope he will soon give us a new gift,a new book. Only books written from heart are so good and obviously Michael brought it from his heart. I hope somebody will take the book, read it carefully and make a movie of the same name, S.C.A.T! All is there in it! Actions, emotions, evils and angels. Abuse, violence, murders, drugs...sad and funny events, love. There are brave, intelligent and beautiful Kelly, Michael, Dan, Joe, Fern...Maggie, and there are also Bennson and Carol, Mr Long, Sindy... Well, Michael, your book surely deserves FIVE STARS from me.

Outstanding book. Excellent style! Book written from heart. For readers in England, Bosnia, somewhere in Australia or in his Texas. Simple style of writting the hardest to develop, Michael uses as he has writen many books before his S.C.A.T. Everyone wishes to read it in one peace. We shall read Michael's new book soon I believe.

Like many other reviewers, this was the first time I have read a book that portrays the life and experiences of a undercover officer. Michael does an exceptional job of helping the reader understand the complexities and dangers of his assignment with a specialized unit. The book is top notch! Once I started it, I didn't stop reading until the last page.

Michael Egbert brought me into his world of law enforcement. The book is filled with adventure, excitement and humor. It was very well written. I felt as if I was there with Michael. I have recommended it to several of my co-workers, who are anxious to read it. Give us more Michael!

This book has all the excitement it promises. I can hardly believe anyone would subject themselves to such daunting undercover work. Hats off the the brave souls who have the courage. The book tells many tales of undercover work. A great read!

What a truly exciting book! This is the first law enforcement book I have ever read, and I cannot wait for Michael Egbert to write another. I was pulled into the stories, eagerly turning the pages to see what was going to happen next and if everyone would make it out alright! A very good book for all to read, gives excellent insights and emotions to what goes on inside law enforement. When is the next one coming out?!

I do not do a lot of reading but I really enjoyed this book. At one point I laid it down to go do something and when I got finished, I sat down at the TV and began scanning the channels looking for that great movie I was watching then I realized it was the book. Yes, I felt dumb but then that says a lot about the book! It is a must read. I look forward to more, maybe even a movie?

This book is the esscence of Micheal Egbert, not just a "war story". He relates his experiences with all the emotion that he felt at the time, it's funny, it will make you angry, and it just might make you cry. READ IT!

ITS HARD TO DESCRIBE WHAT IT IS LIKE TO WORK UNDERCOVER AS A POLICE OFFICER UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IT YOURSELF. MICHAEL PORTRAYS HIS THOUGHTS, FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS ALONG WITH DETAILED ACCOUNTS OF THE EVENTS WHICH HE WAS INVOLVED IN. I READ HALF THE BOOK THE FIRST NIGHT. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT OR HAS A LOVED ONE THAT WORKS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. A GRIPPING TALE OF WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE GUTS TO DO FOR A LIVING.

An excellent book that keeps you at the edge of your seat. The author takes you with him during each and every case. I loved this book and do highly recommend it to everyone, especially to people who don't enjoy reading.

I started out reading S.C.A.T. at night before I went to bed. But, this is no bedtime story. It's riveting, spellbinding, captivating, and an adrenalyn rush. The car chase scene was so descriptive, I could actually see what was happening in my mind. I laughed, I cried, I felt angry and sad, love and hate. Many times I felt I had jumped into the story and was right with the main character. I loved how each chapter was a story in and of itself, and yet important to the development of the entire book. As a true life experience, SCAT is scary. However as an adventure, it would make a great movie.

Wow what a great story! The author puts you right there and gives you an up close and real picture of his work as an undercover cop in a special crime unit. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in true crime.

It was the first book I've read in a while, and Im glad I did. IT was well written and it allows you to enter the mind of an undercover police officer with such detail that you can actually visualize each assignment Michael was on as if you were right there. This will probably be the first time I read a book before seeing the movie.
