Children's Literature - Vicki Foote
An amusing picture of a schnoodle and a bright red and white cover introduce this text that is one of a series about these trendy new dogs that are referred to as designer dogs. Designer dogs are two purebred dogs that are crossed to get a dog with the best of both parents' traits. The text explains in simple terms why dogs are being mixed to create new breeds. The reader first learns about the characteristics of schnauzers and then about poodles. Appealing photographs show the new schnoodle, and then we learn why a schnoodle may be a good choice for someone who is looking for particular characteristics in a dog. Several pages each describe their behavior, coats, colors, and sizes. This is followed by several pages that explain important information about their care. A glossary, index, and web sites are included. Children should enjoy reading about this new world of dogs. Reviewer: Vicki Foote
