Meet the Author

Edward S. Ebert II worked as a classroom teacher for eight years with the Texas City Independent School District. Since leaving Texas to pursue his doctorate, he has worked extensively with college students and classroom teachers on the study of creative thinking as it applies to cognitive processing and its application to the classroom setting. He is a member of the South Carolina Science Council, National Science Teachers Association, Association for Educators of Teachers of Science, and the International Organization for Science and Technology Education. He and his wife, Dr. Christine Ebert, collaborate on projects involving science education and creative thinking.

Richard Culyer has received certification in nine areas, ranging from three aspects of exceptional education to early childhood education to secondary social studies. He has also been certified as a supervisor and as a K-12 principal. Dr. Culyer has taught at the elementary and the middle school levels and served as Assistant Director of Right to Read for the Florida State Department of Education. He has also taught at Appalachian State University (where he was the director of the Freshman Reading Program) and most recently was professor of education at Coker College. His publications include co-authoring a book entitled PREVENTING READING FAILURE: TRANSLATING THEORY INTO PRACTICE. In addition he has published articles in Science and Children, The Clearing House, The Reading Teacher, Academic Therapy, National PTA Magazine, Early Years, Reading Improvement, Instructor, Reading Today, Language Arts, and Teaching for Excellence. His professional interests include studying research as it relates to classroominstruction, vocabulary and comprehension development, and school-wide curriculum and instruction reform.
