Scary and felt like a real life novel

This book had so many twists and turns, but really well written. You really felt that Angela was trying not only to get out, but to make this terrible place go away forever. I loved how you really felt drawn into the scenes. Especially when they are going through the old abandoned buildings. Its gritty and intense at times, but really makes you see what it is to be a "dangerous girl".

Lovee it

This book is one of my favorite books of all time ... you would never guess the ending .. i LOVE it.

I'd never heard anything about this book, I just happened to see it while I was browsing through books, and thought it looked interesting. I couldn't put this book down. You should definitely buy this book!

Angela Cardenas isn't your typical teenager who just get in some troubles in her life. Her whole life basically defines trouble.

The School for Dangerous Girls by Eliot Schrefer is about Hidden Oak Academy for Dangerous Girls. Schrefer gives the glimpses of events that lead Angela to be enrolled in Hidden Oak.

All the Hidden Oak Academy girls did something bad enough for their parents/guardians to give consent to Hidden Oak's staff to do, well, anything to discipline them.

There's Dr. Zsilinska, Angela's counselor who just listens and talk in a circle. There's Juin, who has been to Hidden Oak and know all these things before.

There's Hidden Oak; the school that imprison its girls within.

In Hidden Oak's orientation, the counselors would make the girls fight among themselves to show their true colors. Then they judge whether each girl belongs to the Golden or the Purple thread.

The less dangerous you are--say, probably an emotional breakdown that made your parents think you're crazy--the more likely you'll be in Golden thread.

Angela was probably one of the most innocent, isn't she? But her motto in her whole life has been to stay as dangerous as possible. This book is about survival of the fittest in Hidden Oak; the hell of teenage crimes, and the teenager's solution to societal expectations.

What I love about this book: It was really about survival. The mystery in the beginning definitely build up the story and made you just want to read further and further. It was set in a good pace, and although it was a middle grade book (not too easy, not too hard--vocab wise) it was still thrilling. I love it.

What I dislike: The ending wasn't..exactly proper. I was hoping for...more about the Hidden Oak's fate at the end (you'll know what I mean when you read the book--since I'm not gonna spoil it for you...). I wouldn't mind reading another 50-100 pages about the ending, because it was just such an interesting book.

Not too Dangerous

I loved this book! It put a whole new meaning to the term "bad girl". It was intriguing and 1 of those books I never want to put down! Read it! Buy it! Do whatever you can, just buy this book! It's about friendship, traders, banning together, and most of all, the true meaning of a "bad girl". :)

What a good read..

this book is simply amazing. The plot is interesting. i could barely put this book down. I have read everything from sci-fi to realistic fiction. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone. THe plot is always changing and you really don't know what to expect.

Angela is what her parents think is a "dangerous girl" so they send her to hidden oak to get "fixed". but, as angela soon discovers, only select girls who are sent to the school get fixed. they divide the girls into gold thread and purple thread. the gold thread are the girls who the school believes are fixable and able to overcome their dangerous ways and the purple thread are the girls who the school thinks are totally unfixable, but the school doesn't expel them cause they want the money. the school locks the purple thread girls in an old gym where they are allowed to get into very violent fights with each other. the school lies to the students parents so that if a student ever tries to tell what happens at the school they sound totally crazy. angela and her friends have to figure out a way to escape and shut down the school before the snow comes and they are trapped up on the mountain where the school is located.

this was an amazing book. i love angela and all her friends. i stayed up all night reading it because i just couldn't put it down. i recommend it to everyone. i would say that i hoped there was a sequel but i think that this book is better as a stand-alone novel. i hope you enjoy this as much as i did :). if you liked this book, or books like this then i also recommend the maximum ride series by James Patterson, spy goddess: live and let shop by Michael P. Spradlin, Swindle by Gordon Korman, the 39 clues by various authors, twice upon a time: Rapunzle the one with all the hair, and my fair godmother by janette rallison.

Good book (:

This book is amazing! My friend let me borrow it from her & it is one of the best books i have ever read. It takes off right from the beginning, making you guess what's going to happen next. A very thrilling book. I would definitely recommend this!

Goos book, but with restrictions

While I would say that this was a well written book that was very unpredictable with interesting plot twists, I would not say that it was an easy read. The mystery keeps you interested but there's just SO MUCH it just makes you go "seriously...that's just simply unbelievable" and it is. The characters are well drawn out but you never get a true sense of where each characters true colors lie which leaves you feeling fustrated.

Overall I would say that it is definately worth a read, but be prepared to take the time to get through it all. If your like me and have to see a book through until the end regardless of how god or bad it is, then you'll enjoy the book for what it is upon completion. But if you looking for a book that draws you in and leaves you secure from the jump, this is not the book for you. While the first two chapters are inviting, the next few chapters following leave you irritated and lightly bored. Lots of action and plot twists, but not for those who do not enjoy a challenging book.

Well Written

I really loved this book; it was a book that I wouldn't usually read. I walked past it twice, until my friend picked it up and I actually read the blurb. It was very well written and kept me reading. I could not put this book down! Eliot Schrefer is an excellent author.

I must state at the beginning that I try to avoid reading other reviews of a book before I am able to give them a proper reading myself. However, with THE SCHOOL FOR DANGEROUS GIRLS, I glanced at some reviews posted on Amazon. Having read the mixed reviews, I went into this book with a bit of hesitancy. However, I am pleased to say that I totally disagree with the majority of the reviews that I found. From early on in the book, I was drawn into the intrigue that Angela Cardenas encounters upon her arrival at Hidden Oak.

Angela is sent packing to Hidden Oak after her parents blame her for the unfortunate death of her grandfather. All her life, Angela has been considered unruly and headstrong. Her parents had sent her to live with her grandfather in Texas when he fell ill because they didn't want to deal with her any longer. But when her grandfather dies, she is sent to Hidden Oak. Hidden Oak is a last resort for many girls that are classified as "dangerous."

Upon arrival, Angela, along with the other new students, is sent to the mansion. They are to spend a month there under watchful eyes and locked doors. As the month winds down, some girls are removed and sent elsewhere. Angela and those that remain question the methods of the school and where the other girls have gone.

Finally, Angela is sent off as well. It turns out that to be sent off is a good thing as those girls are the "gold thread," able to be rehabilitated. The girls that remain are considered the "purple thread" girls and are not to be mentioned ever again.

It doesn't take long for Angela to create waves in the main school. She searches for her cousin, Pilar, who had been sent to the school previously. She disagrees with the horrible punishments that the staff dishes out. And she questions what has become of her friends that remained at the mansion.

With the aid of a roommate that should not have been sent to Hidden Oak in the first place, and the son of one of the professors, Angela sets out to discover the truth of the purple thread girls and to let the outside world know what happens behind the doors of Hidden Oak.

Mr. Schrefer writes a compelling and page-turning novel. The story is dark and mysterious, and had me up late one night trying to finish it. The world Angela is thrust into makes the reader question if the methods of the school are encouraging rehabilitation in any of the students, or creating worse girls for society.

For any fan of Gothic, dark, gripping action, THE SCHOOL FOR DANGEROUS GIRLS should not be missed.

Incredibly Fun

A quick, engrossing read. Everyone I've given it to has read it in a day.

The School for Dangerous Girls. A boarding school for troubled, ¿bad¿ girls. The last stop on the line. Their final chance at redemption. Angela¿s new forced upon her home. This school and its teachers are suppose to help her become a better law-abiding citizen, but the fear and evil inflicted on the girls is anything but legal or helpful. Some of the teacher¿s sincerity of their unfortunate predicament may be real, but the means for reformation is more vile than the problems. If Angela is unable to escape this terror, The School for Dangerous Girls may literally be her final resting place.

The School for Dangerous Girls was a forgettable book missing likeable characters.

The characters were self-preserving, untrustworthy people. They were always pointing their fingers at someone else. Yes, the punishments were over exaggerated but the girls never once felt truly sorry. They always thought of themselves as ¿not as bad¿ as the evil inflicted on them.

This book was also confusing. The teachers and psychologists twisted reality and truth into mind battering weapons of low self-esteem aimed at the girls.

The main reason for my continual reading was that I wanted to see the evil end. I didn¿t care about the characters or what happened to them, I just hoped that evil would not triumph and for real help for the girls.

I don¿t recommend The School for Dangerous Girls because it was never able to hold my attention for any long period of time and its unlikable, far-off characters.
