Maybe it's just me, but this hasn't been an easy book to read. Some parts have felt like discovering something that I already knew but had forgotten. Other parts I've had to read and re-read. But what a payoff! The book describes our spiritual nature as the direct outcome of a wholly loving God. Science and Health's deep exploration of this theme and its implications for daily living are incredibly comforting. I've found a growing sense of peace about all kinds of issues in my life -- family relationships, money, health. In fact, I've recently had a couple of physical healings -- including an eye infection and a badly twisted ankle -- by using the principles found in the book. Definitely worth the effort

I read this book for the first time just over a decade ago, and it has completely changed my life for the better. I've since dedicated my life to its teachings. I love being able to re-read it now on an eReader.

Recently I have been searching for something in my life along the lines of spirituality. I have tried everything from traditional Christianity to ritual magic. None of these things were working, but then I came across this book. The writings of Mary Baker Eddy are so deeply and profoundly inspiring. I recommend this book to anyone anywhere, especially if you are searching for meaning and peace in your life.

This book says it all and has the answer to every problem that you will ever face. It helps one financially, physically, spiritually; it straightens out rocky relationships and even helps in finding fulfillment in every department of life. I've had some pretty wonderful things happen after reading this book so I continue to refer to it daily.

Can the principles in this book allow you to regrow an amputated arm or leg?
I respect all religions but there are always limitations.

I read the review of the person who felt this religion was wrong as well as what is being said in The Science and Health and gave out websites to prove so. We never received any vaccinations. I was raised as a Christian Scientist we as well as many others are still here. I witnessed many healings ex; my sister being hit by a car at 6 yrs old, my parents being told her internal injuries were fatal, my father devoted as he was refused medical help and the practitioner and family was called my sister is now 57 yrs old and on her own spiritual journey and many people including the police officer became Christian Scientists 4 days from her accident. What this person doesn't realize (or never read the entire book) is that Mary Baker Eddy states that if in your mind you do not feel the strength to overcome whatever sickness you may be holding onto by all means go to the doctor to be healed. What that person is not hearing is it is your choice to attempt to use a practicioner and yourself to heal yourself or go to the doctor and get help to heal yourself, again it is the persons choice to make she doesn't state that you can't or shouldn't she's offering another way to look at dis-ease, sickness, health but most of all a way to know God and become closer to your creator. To realize that no matter what choice you make for yourself God is not here to punish you he is here to comfort you in all situations in your life. Mary Baker Eddy is not saying make a choice either God or Science she is saying you can and will have both if you want them or need them. When I was 12 my father became sick and "chose" to use practioners instead of going to the drs. He died shortly after becoming sick because of his age and autopsy was done he had colon cancer and the dr told my family they would have sent him home to pray (this was 1963). I never lost sight of God but I did lose faith in Christian Science until I was 30 going through troubled times I picked up the Science and health and began to read and realized I did have faith I did believe in God and felt the comfort again It is hard reading I had/have to reread parts of it but it is a good read if you are looking to change your "thought" as it states "mind over matter" not magic for your body. Just as "you are what eat", "you are what you think" which is what Mary Baker Eddy is saying. I hope that person gives it another chance it can change the way you feel and see God and Life.

For something to be truly creative it must move, touch, and inspire you each time you experience it, regardless of whether it's the 1000th time or the 10,000th. Much like Shakespeare's work has inspired literary buffs for centuries, and DaVinci's art has amazed the world, this book proves to offer new insights and inspiration each time through. It truly is a creative work and contains in it the metal for a lifetime journey and exploration.

If you want to truly understand yourself spiritually and your relationship to God, reading this book will help! The book's premise is that we live in a mental/spiritual world, and it shows you how to apply spiritual principles (prayer) to every aspect of your daily life, not only to heal physical problems, but to live a happier life. For me, the book helped me learn to ratchet my thinking up a notch to see whatever life throws at me from a spiritual perspective. Change my thought about something and my experience changes. It has to be mental first. I had to read and re-read parts of it until I got the 'aha' message, but it was worth the probing. This metaphysical book has answers for a hungry heart. It's one of the most useful, practical books I've read.

I found this book to be a great compliment to my own Faith as a Roman Catholic. I was skeptical at first, but soon realized that what Mrs. Eddy was teaching was already latent in me. As many of the testimonials attributed, it was a particular incident in my life, which led a friend to recommend the book. Amazingly, I found answers to my problem very early on in my reading, and continued for the sake of learning more. I now understand fully the concept of Christian Science, and continue to practice it with the hope of helping others.

The reviewers who have contributed here are fully convinced Christian Scientists, and their reviews reflect an unquestioning acceptance of the truth of this textbook of their religion. It is more than unfortunate that the trade edition is being sold to a number of folks who might never have stepped into a Christian Science church or reading room. The basic premise of the book is that the material world is an illusion, or dream, and to the extent that one realizes this 'fact,' he will be completely free of all sickness, pain, and of problems of any kind. It teaches that all of man's senses convey only illusions, so the reader is free to imagine himself to be entirely perfect. The problems arise when unvaccinated children die of diphtheria or measles, when diabetic children die because they are denied insulin, when cancers that visibly eat away faces or tumors have to be 'unseen,' and when the untreated die in horrendous, unrelieved pain in Christian Science 'sanitaria.' The folks who have reviewed here haven't seen the end result of their belief in the truth of what is taught in Science and Health. Any potential readers who are not yet caught in the web spun by this book would be well advised to check out Children's Healthcare Is a Legal Duty, Inc, at www.childrenshealthcare.org, or any of the abstracts on spiritual healing on the National Library of Medicine web site and following the PubMed line.

I'm reading a lot of books on spirituality these days. Science and Health ranks right up there with the best of them. Its all about healing through prayer and its all based on the Bible. I like using the word index in the back to help me find ideas on things I want to pray about. AND, there is a companion web site for the book that is so cool! www.spirituality.com -- You can look up words or phrases and find quotes that are really helpful!

I've been reading this book, along with the Bible, for many years. It's helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible's message. It's also shown me how to find solutions to life's challenges through prayer. The truth contained in this book is immediately demonstrable in practical ways. One day I began to come down with a very bad cold. I decided to pray with one of the powerful truths in this book...'Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual, ¿ neither in nor of matter, ¿ and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well'. When I recognized this to be true, all the symptoms of the cold vanished immediately and completely. The ideas in Science and Health have transformed my life. It truly is a reference book for spiritual fulfillment. This is a book you won't want to miss!

Overview
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is Mary Baker Eddy’s primary work and the definitive textbook on the system of healing that she discovered in 1866 and named Christian Science. First published in 1875, Science and Health has sold over 10 million copies and is still a best-seller. It has been cited by the Women’s National Book Association as “one of the 75 books by women whose words have changed the world.”For over 135 years, readers have testified that reading and studying this book has not only given them a spiritual sense of the Bible and a clearer recognition of their permanent relationship to God, but has also resulted in physical ...
