Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Cindy L. Carolan
Our brains are marvelous things, but without our sense organs gathering information and sending it to our brains, how would we know what we are seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and feeling? The amazing ways this happens is detailed in this succinct chapter book. In keeping with National Geographic's high standards, the photographs in this book have such vibrant colors and are so clearly defined that they appear more than real. Illustrations of each of the body parts associated with our senses contain enough detail to educate but not enough to confuse. Each chapter contains a "Try this!" section, which is an experiment easily performed at home utilizing very few materials. A glossary and suggestions for further research are found at the end of the book. Interestingly, a two page, step-by-step guide to writing an A+ report is also included. Part of the "National Geographic Science Chapter Book" series that includes such titles as Weedy Sea Dragons, Spitting Cobras and other Wild and Amazing Animals, More Than Man's Best Friend and Mysteries of the Sea. Highly recommended.
