Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Beverley Fahey
An army of ants marches through this "Science Chapters," presented by National Geographic. Colorful endpapers of these very social insects bookend a text that is clear and comprehensive. The format is perfectly suited to students just discovering nonfiction or beginning research. Following a one-page introduction, chapters focus on general information about ants, life inside the nest, ants at work, and various kinds of ants such as carpenter and honeypot ants, before ending with a one-paragraph summation. The "How to Write an A+ Report" that follows is an excellent step-by-step guide for students. The book perfectly models the guide. Color photos, a "Glossary" and "Further Reading" sections round out the book.
