Great Starter To a Great RPG Series

The Scion series has an amazing idea. With the first book, you get to choose to be a son or daughter of a multitude of gods, and the number almost doubles when you add the other books. This series gives the Storyteller free reign of the story, allowing him or her to choose a plot line that would be intriguing and fun for everyone. Each person can create their own character to their choosing, whether it is to be the daughter of Bastet or the son of Thor; then they can customize them even more by making their abilities (and possibly even creating a few of their own). The game creates some rules, but it leaves room for each campaign to have its own House Rules. All around, this is an amazing series by White Wolf, and I'm glad they came up with this creative and intriguing idea.

    Excellent Role Playing

Another excellent brand from White Wolf, Scion is almost a blend between the modern fantasy of The World of Darkness and the epic storytelling of Exalted. No mere commoners, you can create and control the children of the gods themselves and change the world for better or for worse. With sixth pantheons 'Egyptian, Greek, Norse, Aztec, Japanese, and Voodoo' there's endless potential built into the game. The combat and flow of the game are typical White Wolf. The only thing that keeps it from being a perfect start is the total lack of a 'game world.' All they tell you is that the gods are fighting the Titans. Any other plot points are left up for the Storyteller and players to make up. Otherwise, a stellar beginning to an epic line.
