Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
The newly updated Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) exam remains one of the toughest certification exams in the industry. To pass it, you need an extraordinary study guide: this one.

First, it’s authored by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. We’ve long admired them for their amazing clarity and their warm, welcoming, even funny style. Turns out they’re more than great writers: They’re co-creators of the SJCP exam. They know its areas of emphasis (and its gotchas) better than anyone.

Of course, this book covers every exam objective, from operators to objects, from generics and collections to inner classes and threads. It’s also packed with learning tools. Sidebars highlighting questions programmers ask in live prep courses. “On the Job” callouts. Exercises everywhere. Realistic self-tests throughout. Two complete sample exams. Add it up, and this is one of the best exam prep guides we’ve ever seen. Bill Camarda, from the March 2006 Read Only
