One thing that I love about this series is that Anthony Horowitz keeps it fresh by creating new characters, plots, and settings for each book. Alex Rider is a 14 year old boy who is "employed" by MI6. As Alex endures new missions, and mutiple near-death experiences, he matures quickly (while stayinng true to his teenage self) through the increasingly dangerous missions. As fans of this series waits eagerly for the next installment; you know that this series wont have your typical boring plotline.

Well, he thought he was until MI6 sucked him back into the world of death and espionage. Everything he cared about was at risk, his friends, Jack Starbright, his chance at ever being a normal teenager. But what MI6 want, they generally get so Alex is off to Cairo, Egypt- but this time he's not alone, Jack Starbright is coming with him.
The final installment in the Alex Rider series, I think, has the most emotional impact and the most serious voice than the others. Anthony Horowitz still manages to create a nail-biting atmosphere. While reading the book I constantly found myself almost at the edge of my seat, reading as fast as I could to figure out what would happen next. He really is a master at his craft; blending realism and fiction together in a way that flows and makes sense. I hope he writes more young adult books in the future as they are almost guaranteed to be great.
The ending. Oh the ending. So bittersweet and unexpected. Horowitz doesn't end his series as most would: in a word, happy. I have to admit that I was disappointed at the ending, although it was probably very realistic. But admittedly it is an ending that will stick in the minds of the reader for a while and as an author that's something to hope for. The only thing I have to say bugged me about Scorpia Rising is that the dialogue between Jack and Alex seemed almost stilted and awkward, and I'm pretty sure Horowitz didn't do that on purpose.
Overall, throughout nine books, nine different missions, numerous life and death circumstances, a plethora of cool gadgets, and many bad guys, I have been engrossed by the life of Alex Rider. Every book was great and although this book wasn't as fantastic as the others it is still as entertaining and as thrilling as the books that came before.
I salute you Mr. Horowitz.

I grew up with this series. I'm gonna miss it when it ends. Although, I was really happy when they made Stormbreaker into a movie with Alex Pettyfer. They should've continued to make the books into movies. Like in Snakehead, I can just imagine Alex walking down the streets of Jakarta.

I started this series 4 years ago, and grew up with Alex Rider. He wasn't just a character, he was a friend. I knew I had to finish what I started by reading this last book, and I'm very pleased. There were a couple big shockers which I loved (and disliked in some cases) along with many memorable Alex Rider moments. I'm sad this had to come to an end, but I'm happy I got to go along for the ride. Please read this series, you won't regret it.

The final book in a series is typically supposed to be the best. It's the ultimate triumph of the main character and the true destruction of the main antagonists. Overall the last book should be the climax of the series and finally feel like the end of the plot with no possible loose ends (example : Harry Potter). Unfortunately, Anthony Horowitz's "Scorpia Rising" does none of this. While it's certainly one of the best Alex Rider books we have seen for some time now, it just didn't feel like the true climax of the series. As the title implies, the whole plot is centered around the rise and eventual fall of Scorpia. In past books, Alex has always managed to beat Scorpia because Scorpia underestimates the damage Alex could do their operations. Now that we have a plot centered around Alex's demise, I was hoping that we'd see more of the other 9 Scorpia executives. Similarly to the other books in the series, only one member of Scorpia is really involved in the overall plot with a few supporting characters. What really sets "Scorpia Rising" apart is the obvious unity of all the core protagonists in one story. We, as the reader, see much more of Smithers and Jack Starbright than in previous novels with the added twist of Julius Grief returning. The purpose of this was to see how Scorpia was influencing Alex on a more personal level. Of course, the real climax of the book was Alex witnessing the death of Jack and later using a gun for the first time. While this did help to increase suspense throughout the novel, Scorpia as an antagonist feels too impersonal to totally achieve the affect of personal triumph over the world of espionage that Alex loathes. While we see the emotional pain that Alex goes through, his victory over Scorpia means very little because it really just signifies the destruction of some faceless, minor characters we know nothing about. There is no grand battle or ingenious capture for each executive member of Scorpia. At the end of the book, Allen Blunt merely mentions that Scorpia has disbanded - showing how the fall of Scorpia is only an afterthought. In addition, the book eventually ends with Alex moving to America to live with Sabrina.... In contrast, much of Alex's internal conflict over spying for MI6 was his desire to feel normal and fit in with his friends and school. At the beginning of "Scorpia Rises" the first few chapters of Alex are almost entirely devoted to illustrating how happy he was without being part of espionage. There just seems to be a character disconnect when Alex moves to America, leaving behind everything he had previously known. Overall, this was probably one of the best books in the series. Although I didn't spend much time commenting on all the positives throughout this book, there aren't a whole lot of changes from the old "Alex Rider formula". Most of the books in this series follow the same general plot line frame and "Scorpia Rising" isn't much different. 3.5/5 stars

I just finished reading this book and I just couldn't put it down. I was trying to slow my progress since I knew this was the last of the series but it was just too amazing to stop reading. The ending of the book was very bittersweet but it was a great way to end it. The bittersweet feeling was probably the same feeling the author had when he penned this final book and I don't think it would've been right to end it on any other note. I will miss this series very much since I grew up with it but reading this final piece really wrapped up the whole series in a way that was fitting. Growing up with Alex Rider has been one wild ride, one that I'll miss very much but will always look back on with fond memories! Thank you Anthony Horowitz for the wonderful series that defined my generation!

The Alex Rider series has matured with its readers into a truly unique thrill impossible to get anywhere else. This WILL NOT disappoint. The excitement never stops. With the return of an old enemy and the heart stopping finale that will leave you stunned and wishing it would never end. This is truly a flawless finish to an epic series.
