The clever thing about such opinionated copy is that pretty soon one picks up the character of the writer, and thus can get a much more accurate and tactile impression of a place than from so-called even handed reports. A good adjunct book, not primary

This is a book of lists, not a guidebook. It has some interesting information about various sites, restaurants, lodgings, etc. I know this book has received rave reviews. However, I cannot give it one. I suppose I could recommend this book as a secondary reference but never as a basic or primary guidebook.
