I have never been much of a comic man myself, often choosing to favor literature. However, I've found myself on a serious comic kick, and the Pilgrim comics are some of the first I've picked up thus far. This first little volume, Precious Little Life, offers plenty to the reader. There's plenty of humor and charm within the characters. The banter is witty and effortless. The illustrations are well drawn and, fortunately, don't take themselves seriously. The characters are almost always likable, and by the end of these comics, guys will want to find their own Ramona Flowers. Scott is your typical young adult who goes through the vanilla trials and tribulations of a modern man, with a twist. His friends offer little in the way of support, instead choosing witty banter to somehow make Scott feel better. Even the bad guy is a decent character, even if we don't see very much of him. All in all, Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life is a great start to a fantastic series. It takes less than an hour to read, but it's well worth it.

Now, I know that's impossible but I think twenty-three year old me would have really liked this more. Its not that I didn't like it, but I would have certainly related better then. I did really enjoy the cast and the art was well-suited for the script. The video game stuff and some of the music stuff was a little misplaced for my ancient butt. Overall, I can see why this is so popular but I think I'm just a little too old to enjoy it more.

I fell in love with this book while I was reading this. The characters are so great and funny. The story is very strange, but I was lost in this and i was really happy to be lost in the magic.

I heard about the movie scott pilgrim vs the world. And I also heard it was a comic book... I searched for the comic book and Instantly fell in love with the characters and the plot! I wanna see the movie now and finish the rest of the series. Also I heard kick ass was a comic book too after I finish this series I will read that one. OMG SCOTT PILGRIM IS ONE OF THE BEST COMIC BOOKS I'VE EVER READ!! IT GOES IN #1 FOR ME. Will definitely buy the next couple books.

I was one of the people that fell into this series after hearing about the movie, but I am so happy I did. This is such a fun offbeat adventure. If you are looking for a ton of explanations this is not the book for you, but if your ready for a comic adventure that is full of crazy this is the way to go. The character, and there are a ton of them, are all very fun. It's def very hipster, but whatev! It's soooo good. It's easy to relate to the normal yet not so normal characters. I especially love the random dialogue and the artsy things that happen in the middle, such as play along with the band. My only negative, and I know this was going for manga style, but the covers are very colorful, and the actual book is in black and white. I am fine with this, it was just a little misleading. I gave this book a five though! I love this series, and I can't wait to read the rest of them!

Indie comics like the Scott Pilgrim series are the soul of the comics world. This book cleverly mashes together a hipster storyline with weird superhero overtones. I read this one to get on the band wagon before the movie drops later in 2010. I'm glad I did. Once I started I wanted to catch up on the story before the final volume is published.
If this is your thing you may like to check out the Love and Rockets series. It's brilliant.

I started reading the Scott Pilgrim series earlier this year and have been hooked ever since. Scott is a total goof and I love the combination of video game references, anime violence and romantic foolishness. I would recommend the Scott Pilgrim series for men and women, especially those who grew up in their local indy music scene with all the infighting, bed-hopping, nerdyness, and love of music. The series is funny and witty with lots of sci fi and pop culture references. Scott is a lovable, lazy idiot surrounded by a cast of musicians, restaurant workers, baristas, and teenage girls.

On the surface you have an offbeat indie comic, whose action and comedy seem to channel a videogame/sitcom asthetic worthy enough of some of the praise this book has garnered since its publishing in 2004, but dig just a little bit deeper and you're likely to find something even more endearing. Look past the fuzzy and hilariously unexplained videogame logic, and you have a heartfelt and moving story of love and wanting and the pains that come hand in hand with them that never falls into the easy trap of being heavy handed. I know, I was suprised too. All this praise and I've yet to mention the artwork, which given the format can very often make or break a book. Happily O'Malley's playful style, filled with bright saucer like eyes and a solid understanding of comic and manga layouts, bring a sense of belivability and fun to the world of Scott Pilgrim, and perhaps most important of all the action as drawn almost always has a rythem and is easily followed. Trust me when I say nothing is harder to draw, or impresses me more, than action. Bottom line Scott Pilgrim is a joy to behold.

the story is full of witty dialog and is full of wierd yet relaitable situations. I couldn't stop laghing this book was so funny. I recomend it to any person that likes a good story and sid spliting laughter
