The members of Germany's Tokio Hotel started their careers when they were in their early teens, and while they still look youthful on their album covers, they've obviously grown since their 2005 emo/punk-pop debut, Schrei. The members of Germany's Tokio Hotel started their careers when they were in their early teens, and while they still look youthful on their album covers, they've obviously grown since their 2005 emo/punk-pop debut, Schrei. Comprised of translated versions of songs from Schrei and Zimmer 483, their English-language debut, Scream, opens with the title song and immediately highlights the most obvious change the band has undergone -- that of puberty. Fortunately, the lowering of lead singer Bill Kaulitz's vocal range (and subsequent lowering of the album's pitch) has not diminished the songs but enhanced them, bringing depth -- no pun intended -- and power to his work that was previously lacking. Tokio Hotel may have lost a bit of the innocent tone that endeared them to their early fans, but it has been replaced with a stronger, more assured sound that is just as appealing. That said, there is an interesting dichotomy that takes place on Scream -- while Tokio Hotel are growing up, they aren't grown up. The sound is polished and the melodies catchy, but the lyrics veer toward melodrama, especially on tracks that deal with social issues such as "Don't Jump" and "Forgotten Children." There's also a problem concerning the band's overall musicianship. While the performances from each of the members are solid, there's nothing exceptional or particularly inventive that takes place on the album. It could be a turn-off or disappointment for those hoping that age would give Tokio Hotel a rougher edge, but it's nothing to fault the band for. Despite the occasional misstep, Scream shows that the bandmembers are ready and able to embrace their growing abilities. [This version of Scream was released with three bonus tracks.]

    Cant live without them!

This is a very good album! It really gets to you because they are truly something different. My friends dont like them but I dont care. Their songs are so soul touching. They are known internationally, ex. U.S. England, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany (of course, being their home), France, Finland, Canada, Holland, Belgium, and many many more! If you dont end up liking them, then too bad! Plus they "supposedly" have a new album coming out in May or June, so GOODIE!!! :D Overall, to me personally they are a very good young and talented band, and Im sure that they will provide their fans many many years of good music!

    TOKIO HOTEL!!!

Love the multi-cultural thing. The German versions and the English are both brilliant. (I probably sound like a super-strict teacher type... I AM NOT.) I have the emo look, and people think I'm emo because of it. That's not it. I'm more comfortable in it. So the awesome music and the emo look really caught me... I was singing, dancing... Usually I just say 'cool band.' But this one I've recommended to all my friends.

    best band everr

this band is absoultly amazing =&quot . my friend showed them to me and i automatically fell in love with their music and the hot guitarist Tom! their music is amazing! it's the kind of music that can bring you out of a funk and make you feel happy. it's all about standing up for your self and living your life to the fullest. i even went to one of their concerts and i have to say it was the BEST concert i've ever been to (and i've been to ALOT) and they are even better on stage!

    OMG.

AMAZING!!! I also saw a little tiny article in People magazine and said whoa. That guy has cool hair. I checked them out and now I absolutely love them!!! Something about them just draws you in, whether it's the clothing style or the moody glances at the camera, Tokio Hotel will not disappoint.

    Not your average emo band...

Tokio Hotel suprised me because while they have the typical emo/punk band look their music is not about being emo. While it does skim a fine line, emo music is more driven toward suicidal thoughts and misery. Tokio Hotel tells people in their music exactly what they think of those lines of thoughts. They are very obviously against it with song titles like &amp amp quot Don't Jump&amp amp quot and &amp amp quot Live Every Second&amp amp quot . To think they wrote these lyrics at such a young age. And their music quality is just a good as it was then, even though I prefer Bill's lower vocal range. They are very insperational and will inspire more people. They really rock as a band and are amazing musicians. I think some people need to look more closely at their music before putting up a review.

    Best band times infinity!!!

I had seen one of their music videos for an awesome song on this album titled &quot Ready, Set, Go&quot and fell in love. The music really speaks to people, and even if you don't get the message, it's got a great headbanging beat to it. Plus, the lead singer is really cute and really sweet!!!! 3

    Great Music, Great Band

Tokio Hotel is amazingly famous worldwide, and for good reason - they have a great sound that is all their own, and their music is deeply emotional. It's music that you'd have no trouble listening to over and over again (whether people in the vicinity want you to or not). In my opinion the lyrics aren't particularly poetic and profound, and the English versions aren't as good as the original German songs - but those are only small pieces of the whole picture, and this album is definitely worth buying!

    LOVE TOKIO HOTEL!

I recommend this CD 100%! All of their songs are very inspirational, and have a deep meaning. Don't be quick to judge them by their looks! Don't be one of those people who won't even give them a chance because they look unique. They are very talented to be able to sing in other languages and translate from their main language~German. I LOVE TOKIO HOTEL!!!

    Truly Original

Tokio Hotel is amazing. Their lyrics are different from other bands and you can relate to them. Their songs are not just about sex as others are and they mean things to people. By looking at them, they look as if they're emo or goth, but you can't really classify them. They are in their own category and that makes them very original. Everybody should buy this album or at least listen to one song. :D
