Don't buy this edition of the book. It's out of date with the current test. You need to study for J2EE 1.4 and this book only covers up to 1.2. The new test focuses pretty heavily on the new stuff, so if you prepare with this book it'll be pretty hard to pass.
This book fits what Sun requires from you to become a SCWCD. It is concise, easy to read and include several exercises and examples (perhaps the appendix is the best). Probably the fastest track to SCWCD. I pass with 93%. One fault: too many mistakes in code samples, they should be checked (e.g.: why doGet never declares IOException and ServletException?)
Highly recommended. I have never actually written any servlets or JSPs, but I got a 93% on the SCWCD exam, thanks to this excellent book.
This is a must have book for SCWCD. It is very focused and clear. The examples are simple and the review questions are quite similar to the exam wrt toughness and style. I also contacted the authors for a few doubts and they were very responsive.
