Overview

Coming off the heels of a stellar debut release, Kutless releases its sophomore disc Sea of Faces. Produced by Aaron Sprinkle, Sea of Faces is the type of disc to make a band's career. The discs rockers, like "Not What You See" and "Treason," are studio spit-shined. Sprinkles production touches throughout give the opus the legs to stride to the next level. While the bandmembers seem completely at ease with the heavier cuts, they really shine on the mid-tempo and slow tunes. The title track utilizes piano and acoustic guitars to deliver a poignant cut with lyrics to match. "Perspectives" again finds the band cutting back during the verse while the chorus pinnacles into a rock nugget. When the band utilizes both electric and acoustic guitars, the songs really seem to come to life. Check out the sincerity on "All the Words" or the introspection on "It's Like Me." Sea of Faces is a rock masterpiece. Kutless has completely delivered the goods while retaining the charm possessed on its debut disc. This opus is well-written, well-presented, and musically rich throughout.

I wasn't sure if I should get this CD or not because I hadn't heard much about it. But then I began to read through the lyrics of the songs. The lyrics are truly amazing. They truly glorify God. The music itself is very good as well. They have some harder rock as well as a little bit more mellow rock. This is an excellent CD and I'm glad that I bought it.

Funny thing happened, I was having a new amp installed in my car and left this in the CD player. When I came to pick up my car everyone was asking about this CD and they were using it to show off the new amp. I think it turned a few non-Christian music buyers into new consumers. I've been suggesting this album to all my friends and they all come back and say thanks... only downside is it's hard to not turn your volume up... :)

It rocks out. I'm sick and tired of wossy pop songs. The guitars draw you in as soon as you press play. It makes them twice as awesome because they're Christian. I can listen to this with my little sibs around. I can't say enough good things about Kutless. If you ever get the chance to see them live, GO FOR IT!! They are awesome.

Kutless is truly a rock band in all senses of the word. They're hard and soft and aren't the same as all the other junk out there, I know, I'm in a christian band and this is a good CD, buy it!

If you are looking for a rock band that has wonderful lyrics, Christian singers, and a powerful message, you have found the one. No other rock band I have listened to has such professional sounding music, along with lyrics that will lift you up. This CD is a favorite of my whole family's. Don't miss it. It is definitely my favorite band.

This exellent sophmore album by tooth and nail artists Kutless is an incredible mix of hard and medium rock, perfect for near everybody. The band has meaty christian lyrics, but not so much as to scare off non-christians who love a good, upbeat and positive listen.

I recommend this CD for any one who likes Pillar, Blindside, Chevelle, Evanescence or Three Doors Down.

I love Kutless! I have both of their albums and I listen to them all the time. (I think their first album is the best.) I've seen them in concert three times. At the last performance I attended, I got each of their autographs (except Stu's) and took a picture with Jon Micah! Rock on Kutless!

This is Kutless's best CD. I had their first album and theit strong tower album for a long time, but could never find this one. I finally did a few days ago and bought it. It is amazing. There were so many songs that I could relate to when it comes to my walk with God. The hard rock sound they bring to christian music is great. It's definately a much better alternative to other bands like Korn. If you like christain music and like hard rock, this is the CD for you.

This is one of the best christian rock CDs I've ever listened to. I like listening to both christian and secular music mostly for the actully music. Sea of Faces has both awesome music and lyrics. This quality is sometimes really hard to find. Thanks so much Kutless for your music it means alot. The song "Sea of Faces" is my favorite song, but all the others are super too. your rating should be way-over outstanding..."Your body's the bread, your blood is the wine..."

I never really liked Kutless mostly because some the songs I heard were a bit too rocky for me. But one day, I heard "Sea of Faces" and I fell in love with the song! A couple of years later, I heard "It's Like Me" and knew right away that I wanted to try out the "Sea of Faces" album. It took me awhile to find the CD because every store I went to was not carrying it at the time I wanted. However, I now have the album and am very satisfied that I got the CD...this band does have rock but it isn't the rock that you can't understand and not the rock that is screaming in your ear. The songs here on this album are thought provoking--there is only one band that has written lyrics like Kutless which is Casting Crowns--this disappoints me because I wish more bands would write songs like Kutless and Casting Crowns--Kutless sings about how each of us feel when we experience hard times ("All Alone"), enslavement to our sin, lost in this world, how people can understand you even if you think that they might not ("Perspective"), and what we feel like when we want to tell someone about the Lord ("It's Like Me"). Many Christian artists talk about how we need to rely on the Lord during the certain times of trial which is excellent but sometimes these artists don't tell what we can do when we are dealing with sin in our lives or bringing someone to the Lord. This is why I love groups like Kutless! They are not afraid to tell you hey, this is wrong...go to the Lord and talk with Him about it. If you love rock, you will love Kutless and for those who don't particularly care for rock, buy this album! "Sea of Faces" won't disappoint you!

Kutless is a christian hard rock band, which is hwat I love about them. They combine modern musical elements with messages from the Bible. There are the hard rockers in the CD, like "Treason" and "Not WHat You See", but also some great soft songs, like "Passion" and "Sea of Faces". Overall, this is a great album.

Kutless has achieved in this CD what every Christian group strives for: to combine sincere, meaningful lyrics with quality music, not having to sacrifice one for the other. "Sea of Faces," is a shining example of that achievement and it's really great to see that Kutless feels so strongly, apparently, that both God and their fans deserve this kind of quality and zenith of accomplishment. While their trademark sound is hard rock, Kutless does "spice" their songs with a variety of other instruments (like acoustic guitar and synth. for instance), to give each track a unique and recognizable sound so each track doesn't blend one into the other- which is the plight of even the most talented of bands. Tracks 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 and 11 are harder, more intense rock, but each had a special and individual message to give about love, hardship, faith, our own shortcomings and striving to find both our place in life and our place in the Heart of God. The other tracks, (including the powerful and moving song #10) are somewhat more melodic, smoother, but no less poignant in their theme and delivery. You can really tell in this CD how hard Kuless tried to put their hearts into each song, to really show their passion for Christ (as well as people and their music) in both the singing and the inst. performances. This is a very dynamic and impacting CD and I know God has used it to do great things, for both the band and their fans. I would encourage non-Christians also to check out this CD. It is really high quality music and you don't need to be put out by the Christian lyrics, they're not preachy or in your face, they're not about people going to hell for not believing in Jesus. It's a CD that talks about the triumphs and struggles of ALL people, regardless of what their faith is or is not. Yes, their is encouragement to have faith in God, but still check out the CD. You will like it, even if you're not Christian. As for my fellow believers, if you like rock, if you like genuine music that is spectacular (and who doesn't), you MUST check out this CD. :)
