SEA SCOUNDREL, (Lady Patience, the uncut version.), Knave of Hearts, One of Four

Lady Patience Kendall crossed the sea to marry, but her intended died before she arrived. Only one way to get home: charge four hapless American Colonials to find them titled husbands in London. At the ship, she realized their mothers expected each to wed the Marquess of Andover, so she’d have to seek an introduction. How hard could it be? Meanwhile Captain Grant St. Benedict was anything but friendly. Just because her girls set fire to the rigging? Grant had never met a woman more irritating, or more desirable, than the Lady Patience Kendall. But however dangerous his interest, he couldn’t resist teaching the delicious distraction that independence was nothing to passion.

    Best author, best book!

Most incredible book ive read. I have found my new favorite author, and book. Romance, witts, action, excitment, and unstoppsble page turning. I recoment this book for anyone above the age of 18. I felt that the romance scenes couldbe considered graphic for someone under that age, or someone would ne immature about it. Either eay, this book was incredible, and i recoment this author to anyone who likes a good romance, and entertaining battles of eitts and words.

    Fantastic

I really enjoyed this story. Grant and Patience both have had family issues when they were younger which jaded them when it comes to love and marriage. Their tale across the ocean on their way to England and the months that follow, will make you laugh and cry. Great sexual tension and a well written storyline make this book impossible to put down. Another winner by this author.

    Very Exciting must read!

This story held my attention and was romantic and riveting. I had a hard time leaving it to go to work and other activities. Lady Patience was promised to a man in America and when she arrived he was dead. She meets and starts taking charge of 4 young women that she is assigned to find matches for back in England when she returns to England. The Captain the ship that she takes back to England is intriguing and Lady Patience and the Captain challenge each other constantly. When they get to England he finds a way to help her make the matches and their romance develops. There are many exciting escapades that each of the girls keeps Lady Patience and the Captain busy.

    Good, not great

I was actually disappointed that the author didnt write about patience and grants wedding night. After all the writing building up to it, it was a total let down that she skipped right over the main event. It killed what could have been a great story. I felt cheated.

this book was hilarious!  laugh out loud funny characters and situations AND great story.  one minor point:  after the long buildup, it would have been nice to have the wedding night scene--not anything graphic but there was no payoff for sticking to the end!

It started great. The theme, the characters, the plot... but somehow it fell apart, you stop feeling tne connection, the H-H issues become repetitive and the ending feels rushed. I also think I've read this book before or one very similar to it.

I loved this book. It was romance, action packed and funny from beginning to ending. The love/hate relationship between Patience and Grant makes the book so much more enjoyable because of the times in which this take place. Everything you do is judged by sociality. Everyone's reputation is a day to day struggle which puts them all on edge. Oh, and the sea voyage at the beginning was very adventurous, funny, and a true battle of the sexes which no one won. A very good read that I recommend for a nice summer day.

Entertaining, but not completely in love with it

I did enjoy reading this book. It was funny, quirky, and steamy. However, I found myself lost in several scenes, not entirely sure what was happening. I had to go back several times to reread more slowly to get the scene pictured more clearly. I also had a difficult time keeping in the time period. Often the dialogue seemed to flow in words and phrases that seemed out of place, a little too modern. For instance, the use of the word, "bejesus" really bothered me. I even googled it's origins. It seems as though the word may have been around atthat time, but the phrase "sacred the bejesus out of me", was actually not commonly used until early 1900's. I also thought it very unusual for a woman who was so embarassed by her monthly, to so openly talk about bossoms with a man she hardly knew. Ok, now I'm knit picking...it was a fun read, but I would suggest some rewrites to make it great. I also agree with other reviews that the end seemed rush and the wedding night was a big let down after the build up.
