Children's Literature - Dr. Judy RowenTwelve types of seabirds are examined in this volume of the "Pointers" series. Numbered red arrowheads highlight areas of interest on the illustrations. Text corresponding to the "pointers" encircles the illustrations. The text is clear and concise, the illustrations are accurate and eye-catching. The layout is occasionally confusing; the numbering system doesn't have the same point of origin on each page, so the reader may get lost searching. Some text is poorly placed-a description of the American white pelican is much closer to the illustration of a brown pelican.
