    Written for people like me

    I am one of those people who envy crafty people - especially people who sew. I didn't grow up with a mother who could sew so I feel like I'll never learn. At 33 years old and with 2 small children, I decided that learning to sew is going to be the one thing I do for myself this year. I bought this book on the day it was published and read it while my boys played with the trains in Barnes and Noble. I love the beginning of the book because it basically teaches me all the things I need to know about sewing . . . how to use my machine(!), all the lingo, and how to use a pattern. The first thing I'm going to tackle is the storage box. Looks easy enough and will hopefully give me the confidence to try something a little more challenging. Only problem with the book . . . there are no insructions for how to make the quilt on the cover of the book!! I love it and it looks like it easier to do than the one that she does have instructions for in the book! Anna Maria, if you're reading this, feel free to let me know where the instructions are for that quilt!! patticap@hotmail.com Otherwise, highly recommended for a novice like me :)

    Fun and Fabulous

    I love Anna Maria's new book. Fun and creative projects for a variety of skill levels. I like how in some cases, she actually shows you how to make a pattern (i.e. the skirt) or adjust a pattern (smock top). I loved the taxi tote and children's ball toy, and especially the fabric collage artwork idea to bring out your inner Picasso. Let's face it, many of today's generation of new sewers are not experts and this is a great project book of inspiring yet realistic projects. Love the beautiful photos and enclosed patterns. My best friend couldn't stop looking through it so I had to get one for her too. Highly recommend purchasing this book.
