"Let me stay," I said. "Please." "You're going to get me in trouble," he said.

Meet the Author

I've written since junior high school. An only child, I grew up writing big stories about big families. I also write YA under the name of JM Warwick. My hometown of Palos Verdes, California figures in much of my work, as does my current home of Pleasant Grove, Utah and other favorite places. I love to travel.

They say "write what you know" and I do. I am a mother, I have six children, five cats and a huge doberman/dane dog. I have a supportive husband and we've been married 25 years. Our lives, though challenging with a handicapped child who has autism, are centered in our family.

My life experiences have worked into all of my novels. Some more heavily than others, but parts of me are in each story. I love stories rich in family drama, where family members overcome obstacles through love and miracles.

    Story about forbidden love

This story is about a girl from the "in" crowd who feels less than perfect. She's the girl everyone wants and wants to be. All she wants is to really be understood and loved. She never feels like anyone knows the real her until she gets a new teacher in her music class. She immediately becomes infatuated with him and begins to try to start a relationship with him. This story is about forbidden love, loss, and learning about who you are and want to be. I enjoyed the writing and will read more from this author!

    No Ending.

I never write reviews but I had to for this one. The entire book was Eden thinking... about her friends.. james.... her family etc. There is literally only a few pages of any real conversations between the 2 main characters. Then to top it all off... there was no ending. HUGE sad let down and not at all worth the money.

    Just WOW.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The story line is sweet, cautious, and romantic. Sometimes you will hate Eden, but you will always root for James. I'm crossing every appendage I have that Jennifer Laurens will write a sequel. These characters deserve another two hundred pages or so... or at least you'll be begging for them!

    From Missy's Reads & Reviews

This book obviously touches on the very taboo relationship between a high school student and her music teacher. It's a subject that people are always very weary about, but one thing that makes it a little more tolerable in this book is that the age gap isn't THAT much - only four years, in fact. I'm not condoning these types of things, but that makes it a little easier to swallow than an 18-year-old girl falling for a 40-year-old man, wouldn't you agree?

There were many ups and downs for me in this book. Our main character, Eden, is your stereotypical rich, spoiled teenage type that acts very much as she was just described. She's used to getting her way and doesn't mind using people and situations to her advantage. However, she grew through the novel - realizing her mistakes and learning from them. The relationship with her boyfriend was one of convenience, and I wish we would have had a little more background on her relationship with her parents (stepmother included) to fully understand why it was the way it was. I think the best way to describe Eden overall would be to say that she is a very well-written typical teenage girl. I liked her, despite her more negative attributes.

As far as her relationship with her teacher, James Christian... I felt as though it was just one of those things where she was just very smitten with a teacher and made him more profound than what he really was. Maybe James Christian was as incredible as Eden made him out to be, but I didn't get that just from reading the book.

I liked this book. There was some pretty good symbolism in the book and beautifully written emotions. The ending wasn't as I was expecting it to be and it is left a little open, but it doesn't affect the overall appeal of the book as one might think. For the most part, it's a very clean read - minus a make-out scene and some very intense sexual tension. This is a good read for the more mature Young Adult audience.
